Deck Description

Bad boys, bad boys. What you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come for you?

...not much, because these boys are equipped, exalted, and unblockable.

How to Play

This deck was put together before Dimir came out in Gatecrash as an attempt to salvage a failed mono blue unblockable deck I'd tried out. I like this much better with its black splash.

Two themes going on here. The first is, obviously, beating face with unblockable, ideally exalted-boosted guys and swipe away four, five, or even more life each turn. Fog Bank and even Duty-Bound Dead then sit back and play defense, aided by kill spells which can pick off particularly troublesome threats.

The second theme is not readily apparent: there's a secret Human theme going on here. One quarter of the deck is Humans, so we can toss in little-used cards like Silver-Inlaid Dagger and Mass Appeal to reap benefits. Slap a Dagger on Invisible Stalker, Deathcult Rogue, or Harbor Bandit for real fun. Ouch!

Sideboard offers some flexibility. A bevy of counterspells allows you to turn this into more of a control deck if you need to, stalling while you build up your unblockable(s) and chip away. I've gone heavier with counters to protect against kill and board wipe (Dimir Charm, Negate) more than countering, say, opposing creatures, since your kill spells and Fog Banks should be able to hold them off. If that's not enough, you can pull in more creature control with Hands of Binding, Victim of Night, Evil Twin, and Nefarox offering some intriguing and flexible options.

Playtesting this has been a blast; no one really knows what to expect from it until it's too late. But I have yet to try this deck out in a full FNM or tourney setting. Any tips before I do?
