Deck Description

There is still grand power in the forests of Krosa....

How to Play

Grandeur: one of those fun Future Sight abilities that hasn't gone anywhere...at least, not yet. To date, only one card in each color uses it. But that doesn't mean we can't try building around it!

We start with green and Baru, sharing the title of "Fist of Krosa" with legendary figure Kamahl. Like most of the Grandeur characters, we know little about Baru himself, but his abilities clearly tie him to the powerful forests of Krosa. Let's take a look:

"Whenever a Forest enters the battlefield, green creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain trample until end of turn."

Spiffy! Like a built-in mini-Overrun. And we haven't even gotten to his main ability yet....

"Grandeur — Discard another card named Baru, Fist of Krosa: Put an X/X green Wurm creature token onto the battlefield, where X is the number of lands you control."

So I think the theme here is pretty obvious, no? Get a bunch of Forests into play, drop Wurm fatties, and then make them bigger as you continue dropping more Forests into play.

The rest of the deck works around that, either getting more Forests into play (sometimes during the opponent's turn) or, in the case of the high number of Treefolk here, benefitting from all those Forests. Cards of particular note:

- Scryb Ranger is a very unusual-for-green flier, and has the nice ability to bounce Forests back to your hand so you can replay them again.

- Harrow and Sakura-Tribe Elder can drop lands on your opponent's turn. That's OK with Baru, but especially nice with other creatures that benefit from land drops, like Battlewand Oak.

- Dryad Arbor is a creature AND a Forest. Think about the implications in this deck.

- Nylea gives those Wurms and your beefy Treefolk trample, and she (or Baru) can be fetched easily with Time of Need.

The sideboard features a bunch of other cards that benefit from lots of Fforests... Vinelasher Kudzu in particular can speed this deck up considerably if need be.

What do you think? Any cards you can think of that would really push Baru's love for Forests over the top? Any constructive comments will net you +1 rep points. Thanks in advance!
