Deck Description

Before Blasphemous Act, before Boros Reckoner, before Boros even existed, there was...Skirk Fire Marshal.

How to Play

Like Blasphemous Act decks today, this one is intended to wipe clean your opponent's side of the board, ideally insta-killing your opponent at the same time, or at worst, leaving your creatures intact and ready to rock and roll.

Even before the Marshal and/or Act arrive, you can assemble an able fighting force. Your plentiful (thanks to cards like Mogg War Marshal, Krenko's Command, Dragon Fodder, Rise of the Hobgoblins, and Empty the Warrens) Goblins can follow the leadership of their Siege-Gang Commander to rip apart your opponent and their creatures. Balefire Liege and Legion's Initiative (and the first strike from Rise of the Hobgoblins) turn them and all your other weenies into one scary army.

But that's really just the appetizers until the Marshal hits. Note that many of your creatures have protection from red, and the rest can be covered by Boros Charm's indestructible mode, making the Marshal a true one-sided wiper. Once that happens and he does his thing, the field in front of your creatures should be clear and allow you to swarm in for a quick win. Burn, baby, burn!

The sideboard is primarily centered around an alternate strategy: Goblin token swarming. If your opponent is resiliant to Marshal/Act, pull in some Goblin Lords and Intangible Virtue to turn your Goblin army into a pumped. vigilant fighting force, and/or use Ib Halfheart to turn them into ticking time bombs.

What do you think?

Deck discussion for Fire Marshal? Blasphemy!

Goblins are so mean when you have a Skirk Fire Marshal. Makes Krenko a whole lot better. Looks like a great deck to me!

You should run more blasphemes acts. It combos with like everything in your deck lol. I love goblins and have been running them forever but this deck is a very cool idea I haven't considered before. Good job.

Added another Act to the main and moved Memorial to the sideboard. Still another Act in SB too that can be pulled in if needed.

Thanks! I was going for something a bit familiar, but also a bit different. :-) If you like Goblin decks, I have a couple others I'd love feedback on from another Goblin aficionado....

http://www.mtgvault.com/jre47/decks/goblins-go-to-the-dark-side/ is my favorite. Goblin midrange!

http://www.mtgvault.com/jre47/decks/goblin-sacrifice/ - The name says it all.

Just if you have time and are interested: no pressure. Thanks again for the review!

Sadly Act Is Still More Effective Than The Marshall. I Recommend Upping The Act Count.

The thing that makes the Marshal so valuable is that it hits players, so even if they somehow find a way to counter/avoid the Act there's not all that much they can do to stop the Marshal's damage since it's an activated ability.

Right. Act is sometimes better, sure...especially with Reckoner out. But Fire Marshal can more reliably throw damage right at the opponent's face, and with Reckonor, it's even better. 20 instanty if they can't stop it.

Goblin Warchief attempts to bring the cost down a bit, but yeah, it's not great acceleration. Between Reckoner and Goblin tokens, you should be able to navigate early turns until you can land Marshal and seal the deal. Just added Nearheath Pilgrim based on other suggestions, and that should help recoup life lost early, too.

so..your creatures are pro red, sure....but how do YOU stay alive, as you are not pro red, and by the time you get to the 5 mana needed to play the Marshall, you will have taken damage.....

I HAVE AN IDEA!!!!! add Nearheath Pilgrim! then you can play it unpaired before you drop Marshall, and then soulbond them together!. when you tap those 5 goblins to deal damage to creatures and opponents, sure, you lose 10 life, but you also GAIN 10 life, for EACH target Marshal hits! Amazeballs!

also, Pilgrim pairs with Reckoner and Boros Charm for an infinite lifegain loop, if you want

Yeah, the combo is always good. But pairing Pilgrim with any heavy hitter is a good idea. Done and done...thanks!

Goblin assault

Not a bad option, but the issue is that your Gobbos might then all be slaughtered. You need some around to trigger Fire Marshal.

I would suggest assemble the legion, but that's human tokens :P
