Deck Description

"Wow, I'm breezing through this game! It's Turn 4 and this guy hasn't played anything ye--HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT?!?!?!"

How to Play

I took the regular "Sneak And Breach" type deck and wanted to see if I could do two things with it: 1.) take it into Modern, and 2.) make it mono red. Here's my attempt to do both at the same time!

The biggest challenges in taking this out of its normal Legacy format are A.) losing access to mana acceleration like Ancient Tomb, Sandstone Needle, Seething Song, and Lotus Petals, and B.) losing Through The Breach's sibling Sneak Attack.

Addressing each of those in turn....

Mana acceleration is relatively easy to address. Desperate Ritual is a poor man's replacement for Seething Song, but it works well enough. Generator Servant is a nifty way to essentially reduce the cost of a fattie by 2...and still give it haste! (And Servant can even get in a little early damage on an empty board.) But the biggest helper also comes in as our best Sneak Attack replacement: Geosurge. Typically seen in Dragon decks and the like, the 7 red mana it supplies can bring in any creature here aside from Emrakul. With some help from a Simian Spirit Guide or Ritual, you can cast Geosurge on Turn and bring down a big beefy beater long before you opponent is set up to deal with it. And unlike Sneak Attack and Through The Breach, that beater will stick around for beatings on future turns as well. Yes, you lose haste, but saccing a Generator can take care of that if you really need it to.

The only other thing of particular note is the control aspect. Many Sneak/Breach decks use Blood Moon, but since we lose all the Legacy special lands anyway, I also mainboarded two Magus of the Moon to really lock the opponent down. And while Chalice of the Void is also hardly new to Sneak/Breach decks, that doesn't make it any less effective at shutting down a variety of spells, especially pesky 1 CMC spells.

For the sideboard, I tossed in a couple more Magus for decks that are really short on basics, Guttural Response for control (also been contemplating Defense Grid), Trinisphere for decks that want to race, Bonfire for weenies, Spree for artifacts, and Sundering Titan as another fattie and a way to blow up basics if need be (and REALLY wreck decks with 3+ colors that try outsmarting Moon with basics.)

Thoughts? Testing is going well so far, but this is still really a first draft. Any suggestions?
