Deck Description

After years of waiting for true Human tribal and finally recieving it with Innistrad block, it's about to leave Standard again. But before it does, let's give one last last hurrah with Humans at their best: in white.

How to Play

This deck is a lot of fun, and pretty flexible too. It can get some blistering fast starts with an early Champion or two, and has ten 1-drops to get things going early. Turn 2 offers some mass token potential with Precinct Captain and Gather the Townsfolk (great with Champion!). But it REALLY hits its stride by Turn 3, with options that include lifelink and color hate (Fiendslayer Paladin), mass protection and X-cost hate (Frontline Medic), double strike presents (Silverblade Paladin), and even setting up frequent card draw (Mentor of the Meek). Your bombs at 4 CMC (Odric) and 5 CMC (the forgotten but just as awesome as ever Angelic Overseer) are true closers, putting your hopefully already-realing opponent on a very short clock.

The non-creature support focuses on mass protection (Rootborn Defenses and Brave the Elements) and as close as white gets to direct kill spells (Smite and Celestial Flare) to pick off troublesome creatures. The flexible Bonds of Faith rounds out the support, able to be used either defensively if you need key attackers removed, or offensively to press your attack.

The sideboard may be my favorite part of this deck: so flexible. Imposing Sovereign just shuts down opposing aggro and flash/token creatures. Fiend Hunter is another forgotten but still very potent creature if you need to pull in more lockdown. Riders of Gavony never saw the use I expected, but it always worked well for me and is fantastic against decks with a large percentage of certain opposing creatures. Intrepid Hero has a lot of targets in the current Standard that could ruin your day otherwise. Devout Chaplain is a good way to repetitively deal with pesky enchantments and artifacts. And finally, Renounce the Guilds really should be getting more love. It might be the best card in the game for dealing with Geist of Saint Traft, Aristocrats, Blood Baron, and others. And with this mono-white deck, you're completely immune to the drawback.

Like I said, this deck is a blast to play. I plan to use the crap of it while I still have humanity banded together for the next couple months!
