Deck Description

Sneaky, impromptu attacks can come from anywhere!

How to Play

I've fallen in love with Sneak Attack. My current favorite legacy deck uses it and Through The Breach to the fullest. But what if I could get those big fat creatures out even sooner? Why wait until they're in my hand to potentially be Thoughtseized or Hymn to Tourached away? What if I dropped those fatties straight into play from my library?

Sneak Attack has a little neglected cousin that can do just that: Impromptu Raid. It takes a little more work, but the output is just as good as Sneak Attack, and you can "hide" your intended target a little better. Get that big beater to the top of your library and then throw it at the opponent. Between Worldly Tutor and Mwonvuli Beast Tracker (another forgotten gem), you should be able get that big beater to the top of the deck without too much trouble (and Worldly Tutor, as an instant, can do it RIGHT beforehand), and then Cream of the Crop sets up a nice cycle: play fattie, dig for the next one, rinse and repeat. Once you get it started, it will take some serious disruption to stop. Oh, and Hua Tuo can then set those creatures up AGAIN once you sacrifice them.

And Sneak Attack is still there for anything you get in hand, so if the opponent forces you to draw or otherwise messes up your Impromptu strategy, you can still just drop them into play the old-fashioned way!

As for those fatties, you have tried and true Sneak Attack staples like Wurmcoil Engine and Worldspine Wurm to hit hard and then leave behind dangerous creatures to finish the job, Inferno Titan for some directed burn and smashing, and Emrakul for... well, annihilating the opposition. Being green-heavy, I emphasized green fatties here (since it's always nice to still be able to hard cast if things go ill): Woodfall Primus not only gets to pick off a pesky (albeit non-creature) permanent, but when it dies it's able to do so again and then sticks around as a 5/5 trampler. Liege of the Tangle leaves behind an even bigger mess, potentially turning all your lands into 8/8 beaters themselves. And Atarka...kind of speaks for himself, doesn't he?

Can't wait to try this one out. What do you think? Any and all useful comments appreciated (with rep points)!

Deck discussion for Impromptu Attack

I would change the Liege to something else tho. Maybe for another Atarka? Also a couple more spirit guides or mana dorks would be good too. And what about removal? Your sideboard doesn't seem to have a lot of removal in it. I think you have enough "scrying" effects so I would take out the Tel-jihad Justice and maybe replace it with Ancient Grudge? Some board wipes like Firespout would be good as a 1-of in the mainboard or some more in the sideboard, as well as Lightning Bolt. Idk, these are my suggestions; you don't have to listen to em! Overall looks pretty solid and a really fun deck to play!

Thanks... I think those are all fine suggestions. Playtesting has shown that I don't really need the scry from Justice, so I think Ancient Grudge is a good call. I'll have to play around with removal ideas... Firespout is a good call. I'll make some tweaks after I playtest a bit more. Thanks for the review!
