Deck Description

I love me some W/G Knights (http://www.mtgvault.com/jre47/decks/midsummer-knights-dream), but I was also surprised at how easily W/U worked in Knight tribal. Same key pieces (Knight Exemplar for boosts and protection and Kinsbaile Cavalier for mass damage potential), but blue has some surprisingly powerful options to bring to mounted combat.

How to Play

The real star of the deck is Thistledown Liege, which gives awesome boosts to every other knight here, including +2/+2 to each one that happens to be both white and blue. And perhaps the best part is that he can be played essentially as a combat trick, as he has flash. Nifty!

The Liege is the main reason this deck has max copies of the otherwise so-so Ethercaste Knight. He's decent on his own, as a 1/3 for 2 CMC that gives a mild boost to solo-attacking creatures (exalted) and just so happens to be immune to some nasty removal (thanks to being an artifact), but with the boost from the Liege, he becomes a real star.

His Exalted ability also hints at a theme I chose to focus on with this deck: big, beefy solo attackers. And there are a few good candidates. An Ethercaste Knight, because of the boost he gets from the Liege, is an obvious choice. Hussar Patrol also benefits from the same +2/+2 and is an intriguing option due to having vigilance. And Lyev Skyknight has flying and 3 strength to start with, making for a very fast clock if the oppoent doesn't have an answer for its evasion.

Speaking of evasion, Steel of the Godhead can provide the ultimate in evasion, making any blue creature unblockable (and lifelinked if it happens to be white as well). Needless to say, if you're able to get one of those enchantments onto the right creature and have some exalt-ified cards out, your opponent's in BIG trouble if they can't rustle up the right kill spell.

This deck also takes full advantage of blue's strengths: control. You've got your pure counterspells (Mana Leak, Hindering Light), lockdown (Curse of Chains, Detention Sphere), and board wipe with Supreme Verdict...which is one-sided with Knight Exemplar on the field!
