Deck Description

Just another Elf deck, though it's odd there's so much white....

Wait, ALL these elves are white! How is that even possible?!

How to Play

This deck is part of my new "off-color" series, featuring well-known tribes from Magic's history, with a big twist: they're NOT in their traditional color.

Elves are one of those rare tribes that make a splash in all five colors, but obviously they're known for being the primary green tribe in the game. But they have a surprisingly big showing in white as well thanks to everyone's favorite tribal block: Lorwyn...or actually, Shadowmoor. Is it enough to make a whole deck, though?

I think it is...very easily, in fact. The case is greatly bolstered by the Wilt-Leaf Elves: Cavaliers and Liege. Not only are they very cost-effective creatures in their own right, but Liege gives any other Wilt-Leaf Elf a +2/+2 boost (thank you, hybrid G/W mana!). In fact, the vast majority of creatures here also happen to be green and white (even though you can and often will need to spend only white mana on them), so Liege is HUGE. So is Shield of the Oversoul, which turns any green/white creature into a flying, indestructible beast.

And speaking of beasts, check out Safehold Duo. Basically, play nearly any spell in this deck, and it becomes a 3/5 vigilant creature for the turn. Nifty.

Among your other Elves, you've got all sorts of fun abilities, from further pumping to lifegain to token generation.

I did cheat a little bit by tossing in a couple spells that require green mana, but Selesnya Charm seemed too good to leave out, and I justified the awesome Elvish Promenade by telling myself it wasn't a mono green Elf creature, so I can get away with it. That's what I told myself, at least. ;-)

What do you think? If you like this concept, check out my other Off-Color decks, including black Humans, red Vampires, blue Zombies, and the Elves' worst enemy--Goblins--invading enemy territory by going green! (Just go into my Profile and click on the "Off-Color" tag to see the rest.)
