Deck Description

I'm feeling inspired to try out a different sort of white deck....

How to Play

Tapping is nothing particularly new to white. More than most colors, white has a long history of cards that tap opposing creatures and untap your own.

What IS new is the Theros block's "inspired" keyword, which gives benefits for untapping. Obviously these creatures are mostly designed to attack and then reap benefits when they untap the next turn, but there's nothing that keeps you from tapping and untapping them for the same benefits in other ways.

So, first a quick review of the creatures to tap:

God-Favored General: His inspired ability can spawn a couple Soldier tokens. Every color got a creature that can do this (and they all cost 2 generic and one mana of their color to activate), but this is the only one that spawns two tokens, which is nice!

Oreskos Sun Guide: Nets 2 life each time he untaps. Not bad.

Patrol Signaler: Sort of a mini-God-Favored General, spitting out one Soldier token for 1W. Since his ability untaps him as part of the cost, though, you can do this the same turn you tap him in the first place without outside help, which gives you more creatures to immediately tap again...and as you'll see soon, that can be quite significant....

Duergar Mine-Captain: Untaps to give all your creatures a strength boost.

Safehold Sentry: Untaps to get +2 toughness, making him a nifty defender.

Silkbind Faerie: Untaps to tap down another creature. Great for triggering your own untap-for-benefit creatures or tapping down opposing creatures, she can be fantastic! But she's still probably not our most useful creature. That distinction goes to....

Order of Whiteclay: Can untap to bring all but one creature in this deck back from the grave, directly to the battlefield. Oh, and he's a great defender for only 3 CMC. Wowzers.

There's more than that, though. Many of these creatures (including the tokens they create) are Kithkin or Soldiers (or both!), so Weight of Conscience becomes a great removal card AND taps a couple of your creatures while it works. Barkshell Blessing is just sick, allowing you to tap your many creatures that benefit from it to turn an unblocked attacker into a beast. All three of Dawn Charm's abilities can be very relevant, especially considering its regeneration also taps the creature it regenerates. On the flip side, To Arms! and Village Bell-Ringer untap all your creatures at once. And Masako the Humorless makes sure that even your many tapped creatures can still block if needed.
