Deck Description

"Wait, trample isn't a tribe! You can't DO that!"

Why not?

How to Play

Tribes are usually pretty clear cut...you find a creature type, identify a few cards that tie creatures of that type together, and make a deck filled with that type of creature and their support.

But why stop there? Why can't tribal decks focus not on creature types, but on OTHER things that tie a pack of creatures together? For example: keywords.

Trample fits that bill. We have a couple of "tribal" cards that tie trampling creatures together. Stonebrow, Krosan Hero gives all attacking tramplers a nice stat boost, and Tanglesap is a Fog effect probably nobody remembers because it's so specific...but it becomes an all-star when every single creature you run has trample!

So, building around those, we toss in a bunch of otherwise-unconnected cheap creatures. You've got your sparky elementals...everyone remembers they have haste and hit fast, but few remember they also happen to have trample, which makes them awesome with Stonebrow out! You've got cheap green "weenies" with built-in trample like Garruk's Companion (great stats for the cost), Bramblesnap (can get quite big even without Stonebrow), and Slith Predator (which gets better and better each time he hits the opponent). Talara's Battalion is well-known as a great creature in Elf tribal decks, but also happens to work great with THIS tribe as well. And of course, the keyrune in these colors can turn into a trampling creature itself!

Thanks to tramplers being able to get combat damage in even when small blockers get in their way, we can tap into enchantments like Curse of Stalked Prey and Quest for the Gemblades to make them bigger and bigger as the game progresses. And speaking of bigger, Ghor-Clan Rampager is a natural fit here, able to wage into battle as a 4/4 trampler himself or turning one of your smaller guys into a devastating threat.

The sideboard has some tramplers that get better when facing certain decks and some bigger ones for games that drag on. The enchantments give additional red zone options and benefits, and Clan Defiance is a flexible option if you need to pull in some good old-fashioned burn.
