Deck Description

Frustrated by all the anit-counter stuff in Standard right now? Then why bother? You can completely lock down the board even after the opponent gets their creatures in play. Just channel your inner arrester!

How to Play

The name of the game is detain. (And the rain in Spain falls mainly in the plain. Ha!) Anyway...establish an early board presence with creatures like ever-growing Cloudfin Raptor and little guys that muck around with opponents trying to outrace you like Azorius Arrester, New Prahv Guildmage, and Deputy of Acquittals. Other cheapies like Azorius Charm, Feeling of Dread, and Detention Sphere can blunt the enemy's early assaults. Then start really locking the opponent out with more detainers like Lyev Skyknight and especially Lavinia as you chip away at their life total...and THEN the fun begins as you blink your detainers with Restoration Angel and suite of spells that exile and quickly return your creatures to lock down the opponent again. Blinking Lavinia a couple times is basically game over, especially with a flock of evolved Raptors or a big beater like Gideon in play.

Deck discussion for You Are Under Arrest

Have you ever considered Judge's Familiar ? I run 4 in my Azorius deck are they often quite useful early game to counter instants!

You know, I had a full set in there at first, but they just didn't make the final cut. I saw the Raptors as being a much better 1-drop since you'd need something to beat the opponent with while they're locked down, and I decided to just go full-bore with the detain-then-attack mode and the Familiars got left out in the end; just didn't have much room for counters beyond Render Silent. If you have a specific recommendation on how to squeeze them in, though, I'm open to it!
