Deck Description

A versitile vamp deck that can run one on one or multiplayer .

How to Play

This deck has several combos in it. I use the tutors/seal to search for the other half of combos if i dont draw them straight away. The nighthawks come out quick and paired with a hatred deal big damage. if the game goes long , especially in multiplayer, the malikar bloodwitch/rites of replication combo is sweet. The classic hexmage/dark depths combo is always fun and can come out real quick if you want to be mean.

Deck discussion for Bloodsucka's

* I don't think Aether Vial is doing much here. You have only 13 creatures and they are all of various casting costs, you'll have a hard time getting the right amount of counters on it. Please not that you need EXACTLY as many counters as the casting cost, so if there are 4 on it, you can't cast Nighthawks anymore.

* All the goodies and Mana Drain to boot but no Mind Twist?

* There is also no carddraw besides Ancestral. Oldschool as you are I expected Braingeyser or Necropotence (some of your vampires give you life back). I could also see Timetwister here, considering you already run Tormod's Crypt.

* Again, no Strip Mine?

* While the Sleight of Mind/Perish combo is potent, I think it's not worth it at 2 copies each. Same can be said about Deathgrip. Now, Sleight of Mind can be used on both but ... that's very fragile and the cards don't do much on their own. Perish is creature mass removal and you don't want your mass removal to be situational like that. Here is what I would do:
- replace Perish with Damnation or Pernicious Deed
- replace Sleight of Hand with Painter's Servant
Painter + Deathgrip is a lock while your removal works right away.

* Kokusho, the Evening Star would also be a nice addition. It is solid on it's own and combos with Rite of Replication similar to Bloodwitch (Kokusho is a legend and therefore, according to current legend rule, the copies kill each other, triggering a 25-point-Drain Life effect). It's no vampire, though.

* I don't see Hatred in a deck like this but that's maybe just me.

* Force of Will is questionable with just 8 other blue spells, 2 of which I am about to cut and the remaining ones being cards you definately don't want to pitch to FoW ... if you have them, go to 4 copies of Mana Drain.

Yeh, I actually thinned this deck a bit last night after playing s friend of mine. I'm going to sideboard the Deathgrip and perish just for green opponants, remove slight of mind all together. When I first put the deck together most of the creatures were all threes for the casting cost. I added nocturnus and the hexmage later so I may pull it. It still serves me well when I get the three counters on it early because people can't counter the nighthawks. Hatred works awesome in This deck - one of my fav combos! You cast it on the nighthawk if an attack gets through, you can pump him by whatever your life is and it costs you nothing. Mind twist would be cool. I do run time twister in it, I must have just not put it on the list here. I do put braingeyser in here off and on, I think I pulled it recently to try the vampire nocturnus, but I am going to pull that out. It seems like a good card but it makes the deck no fun for me- I don't like knowing what's coming up next ??.

Well, the opponent can still respond to Hatred with spot removal. Does nobody playe Swords to Plowshares, Terminate, Ligthing Bolt/Helix, Path to Exile, Doomblade and the like? And if that happens, in response to your Hatred, then you have spent all your life and won't get any back! That wouldn't fly in my meta, but if it does on yours ...

Alternatives for Brain Geyser: Fact or Fiction (goes well with Living Death), Stroke of Genius or - since you play this in multiplayer - Mind's Eye.

So here is where I am at on this- I scored a couple polluted deltas and want to give this get gland thing a try but my dilemma is this: I am at 60 cards now. The deck runs fairly well there and when it was at 70 it tended to get pretty bogged down trying to too much. So, in order to put these in do you reckoned I remove other lands in exchange for the deltas or do I just throw em on top and go 62. I also want to throw in a couple of other creatures ( maybe captivating vamp a a bloodghast?) . The potential " win" plays in it are Bloodwitch/ rites, hatred nighthawk ( I know you do t like that one but it has yet to burn me) , or dark depths/hexmage. I really wanted to toss in that mind twist after you mentioned it so I could toss in one mind twist and one braingeyser, one captivating vamp and the deltas then run 65 cards. If I am playing against mono green I would take out two mana drains in exchange for two Deathgrip and maybe exchange the vial and one creature for perish ( I considered the other mass creature removal you suggested but then my guys go as well, I felt like perish was more targeted and efficient). I appreciate the advice- thanks!

Fetchlands replace basic lands (as long as there remain at least two copies of the basic lands you play), so this isn't a problem here. One card you can cut for either Geyser or Twist would be AEther Vial for the reasons I stated earlier. Other than that. If you insist on Hatred, which would be the ones I would ditch next, then we are out of options. Next in line would probably be Sorin, but you would probably miss his ability to kill small critters. So, at this point it's up to you and personal preferrence.

I do like Sorin A LOT. He can come straight in and deal 10 damage which can help me keep pace with some faster decks. I may pull the vial. I think the mind twist would be really good early to slow down my opponent in 1:1 duels so I do really want to try that. Thanks for all the advice - much appreciated!
