Deck Description

This is a budget deck for casual play with friends, our goal is to make decks less than $100 and aimed at multiplayer games.

Can easily trick this up for Modern play but for our playgroup, I have sacrificed on the lands and counter protection to meet budget.

How to Play

The idea is to Mill and Burn all your opponents out at the same time!!

You want to get Heartless Summoning (HS) into play quickly, this can happen either from natural draws OR via tutoring from Muddle the Mixture (possibly even Shardless Agent too).
Once HS is in play, you will be able to play all your creatures for draw and tutor value and assemble the 2 card Myr Retriever loop. HS allows you to pay 0 for Myr Retriever and when you play your second one you return the first one from graveyard.

We have plenty of ways to get our Myr Retriever's out as well, Jarads Orders is the insta combo! but you can still draw into it from Mulldrifter, Muddle The Mixture tutor or Shardless Agent cascade.

Deck discussion for Heartless

+1
Of you want to remove red as colour, you could use Syr Konrad, the Grim. Personally I'm no big fan of mixed strategy (mill/ burn), tough burn could be a backup-plan if someone uses cards like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. Consuming Aberration would be an option, if you want to go for pure mill.

Cheers for the suggestions!
Impact Tremors is the odd one out and does make mana base a tricky. It is only 2 cmc though at 1 generic 1 red, Syr Comrad fits much better and may replace the red?? Need to get a few more games in to see. In our multiplayer games there is so much creature removal that he may not stick around long.

As for the eldrazi with shuffle effects, there are 1 or 2 decks we play with at least 1. but they can really stretch the budget and the only way to win with this deck is etb burn effects as a backup. In almost all my games I hardly need or play Impact Tremors anyway so maybe moving it to SB might be better??

I have been thinking to try a jund (splash blue) version with a more aggressive shell. Lightning Bolt, Bloodbraid Elf ect ect. It will have far less reliability... not sure but I do like the thought of 2 cascades - BBE into SA into a 2 drop!!!

For now though, I might remove the red all together and test it out, will make the mana base more reliable too!

The problem with sideboarding Impact Tremors is that you still need the manabase to support it. You could try to use mana-fixing lands, like Archway Commons, to get the 1-2 red mana, tough you still would need a way to search for it reliably.

Personally I favour reliability over power. Powerful decks can be fun to play, but they also can be extremely frustrating, when you rely on a single card for your whole deck to work. I normally also play 2-coloured decks for the same reason: The mana-base is stable and affordable. For a competitive 2-coloured deck, the price of the lands will normally make up to 50% of the decks total price. The more colours you add, the more expensive (and prone to disruption) it gets.

Altar of Dementia could be another option for milling, if you don't want to rely on creatures, tough this cannot be used when Heartless Summoning is on the battlefield.

Adjusted mana base for tonight games, this seems much better at getting the pieces together and supporting the splash of red.

Also getting rid of sideboard as it's only casual play anyway! The cards listed in SB are my maybe board till I decide on main after suggestions n stuff.

Found my 3rd copy of Muddle the Mixture before tonights games which replaced main board Negate, its a counter or a tutor in 1!!

Our first game (5 players) went real quick, this deck one real easy as I had no early threats and nobody ran counter. Second game we had a few people switch up decks. Still won but very close, had to stall out till 8 mana available for dbl counter up to cast [[Jared's orders]].

Depending what you want to achieve, you could swap your Mana Leak for a Rune Snag (more effective in longer games), or for a simple Dispel/ Disrupt protection against removal.
