Deck Description

Supposed to be joining in with some FNM, so I started looking at making a Standard Legal deck. Any advice on what you think I should do to change it would be great, already added in/taken out some stuff. Could use some recommendations for sideboard as well, since I've never really used one properly before. Trying to avoid Mirrodin cards, as they'll be cycled out of standard soon.

Deck discussion for First FNM deck

well ok, first thing is lands, 17? idk what types of formats you play but with the exception of a few decks, each one runs AT LEAST 24 lands. no less. second i dont see a win con here? its kinda hard now days in standard with win with just a frost titan. question, what are the sundials for? if your going to run snapcaster id go with 4. if you want to juust have fun then this deck could work with some minor changes, but if you want to be truely competitive then it needs tons of work. just hit me up which of those you would like to do and ill help you out with either or!

Yeah, since I built it up and tested, realised lands weren't close to enough. Between your comment and the one below, I've made some changes, but what I'd really like to know is, and the sleep and frost breath cards competitive enough to play? If possible, I'd like to retain them, but if they aren't really playable, that's fine. The sundials are in there because of my friends really - one of them is playing a miricle heavy deck, so sundial shuts down him drawing at the end of my turn, and another is running a flicker deck relying heavily on resortation angel, thought it might be better than countering. One that same note, trying not to use anything from the mirrodin block as it'll be out of rotation soon, and unsummon - whilst amazing - isn't so good when an opponent is running a deck full of ETB effects.

Frost breath is close to being playable as it instant so you tap during their turn and you get two turns of non attacks sleep however is not really playable and if one guys playing a set up where sundial kills awesom sideboard it

personally i think a mono colored deck has little to no chance of standing up to the current standard metagame. for example if your not familiar with them: U/B delver, u/b/w epser, W/r humans, R/g aggro, and B/R zombies. there a few others that are out there as well, just not as prominant around my local meta.

so you might want to make it dual colors? which then mens you need to decide to go either the control path of U/W, or aggro path of U/R. or just making a semi competitive deck to go out and play to have fun :D

let me knwo what you think and we can go from there

-3x sundial
-3x down pour
-3x sleep
-2x ghostly flicker
+6x island
+ 4x delver
