Deck Description

There is nothing worse than having your enemies team up against you, hordes of creatures barraging you left and right, with no end in sight. But what if you could change that?

That's exactly what this deck intends to do. By turning your opponents against each other, you can sit back and watch as they slowly kill each other off, leaving you near perfect to deliver the last bit of damage to finish them. There are two ways in which the attention will be diverted from your side of the battlefield: consequences for attacking you, and benefits for attacking your opponents.

With the cards Hissing Miasma and Riddle Keeper, opponents will take heavy blows when they attempt to attack you, which will keep them far away from your turf. Even if they decide to take the risk, Briar Patch and Raking Canopy create a safety-net of plant matter, weakening attackers and taking out flyers. The few that do manage to make it through your wall of foliage will have to answer to Deadly Recluse and Ambush Viper, and no one wants to mess with Deathtouch!

To give your opponents even more encouragement to leave you alone, Edric, Spymaster of Trest, offers a lucrative award to those who attack your opponents instead of you; the all important draw power. You yourself can even reap the benefits of Edric, using Rogue's Passage to grant one of your creatures unblockable and sneaking in a hit or two. It all adds up! The more deterring enchantments and creatures you can play, the more time you have to wait and the easier it will be to finish off your opponents!

With little in the attacking department, this deck relies on the efforts of a few key cards. First and foremost, Switcheroo can nab you a huge creature in exchange for one of your own. Solution? Give them something you don't need. And filling this role is Kraken Hatchling. With 0 attack, he poses little threat, and makes for perfect trade fodder! The ever-elusive Vraska the Unseen also lends her strength to your ranks. She can fend off attackers by destroying all who wander too close to her stony gaze, or she can summon a small army of assassins, eager to cut short the lives of your opponents. Give them unblockable with the help of Rogue's Passage, and watch your enemies fall!

While being designed for multiplayer games with several opponents, this deck could very easily hold its own one-on-one. It is especially terrifying against decks that rely too heavily on hordes, weak creatures, and flyers! As you enjoy the view of your opponents taking each other out and struggling to get past your eco-friendly wall, take heart in knowing that they can die a quick death, via assassination that is!

How to Play

Pretty simple. Get out as many Miasmas, Patches, Canopies, and Keepers as fast as possible and watch the events unfold. Best suited for multiplayer matches with several opponents.

Deck discussion for G/U/B Diversions

Nice deck for multiplayer matches. I would probably replace some of the check lands or Islands/Forests for shock land. If your plan works and people aren't attacking you, then you can afford the life loss or for it to come out tapped.

I considered the shock lands. I suppose they could fit in pretty well. I will update the deck list, see how they fit in with some test hands, and update accordingly.
