Deck Description

KnightoftheHokeyPokey... Here are the evil golems. :)

Grouchy golems don't like being alone. So... I made a deck for them to be more social, while protecting them from mean spells. :)

They can be a lively bunch when they get going... :)

How to Play

Well... Best way to pay this deck is probably to ramp into asceticism. And then put out precurser golem and use some nasty cards like Fated Infatuation and banishing knack. :)

Deck discussion for grouchy golems.

Holy crap. That's golems to a tee!

Keeping it Modern?
Give me a second:

The Precursor begs blue splash
Dread Statuary comes to mind :)
Also, white splash...Blade Splicer comes to mind.

Really..only thing card i have for you, is Dread Statuary...just quickly looking at the deck.

Good luck!

sweet. dread statuary is fantastic. yay for manlands. :)

although I would love to throw in splicers, this is strictly a golem deck. so no non-golems... heck, I should post this on the tribal deck. see what people think of it.

Agreed. It should give it more looks/comments/likes. Which is always a plus.

Hmm ... the biggest Golem has to be Colossus of Akros.

question... on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best. how would you rate this deck, in terms of deck design?

no rush. take all the time that you need.

I say ... 7/10. Awesome, bit still growing.

You got theme, mana curve, and good responses.

I think you should take evil advantage of precursor golem. The main weakness is a single lightning strike decimating all your creatures. That has to be a priority.

Hexproof is sorely needed.

Some other boosters are also needed. Blade Splicer, Master Splicer, etc. Shooting for indestructible is a good counter yo the added vulnerability of artifact creatures.

And ... I kinda lied about the mana curve. Another low-mana Golem is a good idea.

sadly there aren't really mana light golems. :(
I do have hexproof, that is what asceticism is for, but if you have a better suggestion then let me know. :)
what golems might you recommend dropping/adding, to balance out the mana curve?

Oh, Kazzong, I like you more than most people on here, don't ask that!! lol
(KnightoftheHokeyPokey is up there with you, man).
I say that, because i honestly don't know.

Precursor Golem scares me, to no end!!! A perfectly timed Doom Blade against you....scary, right?! But if you use it correctly, then BOOM! I do see the Asceticism and Skin. But it still scares me! Might suggest upping the Asceticism...or putting something in like Cancel.

The Solemn Golem and the Vigil card...they are very good cards, highly rated...but how are you going to get a creature to die?

For creature/artifact/enchantment hate...I would up the Banishing Knack, to 3 or 4 copies.

I ADORE Thran Golem...he could be a killer...but you only have 6 cards that can enchant him. But the 6 cards are really good. So, not sure about trying to up the count.

I agree about the hexproof.
Question, does Equipment count as enchanting?

0
Posted 14 July 2014 at 07:24

ok. so drop thran... *sheds a tear*, up the instants and asceticism. I just really need a golem to swap in. preferably a cheap golem that doesn't suck.

0
Posted 14 July 2014 at 07:33

um... no. equipping is not the same as enchanting. although that would be an awesome way to use thran golem. :)

0

No way, Thran rocks!! He is my favorite in the deck!

Cheap golems:
Emblazoned Golem (no side-effects)
Straw Golem (bad side effec)
Soultether Golem (better play a golem every turn, or bad side effect)
Battered Golem (see Soultether Golem)
Sparring Golem

dang... well I guess that is one way to do it... although I would have advised not to um... "rant" on Surewhynot's deck I guess... particularly if you want him to give you feedback or answer a question. he is very knowledgeable, but also tends ignores us mere mortals when we aren't polite... :(
either way though that is an interesting deck he has. :)

Lol ... Jessie, chewed out? And not by your wife? :).

I would aim for permanent hexproof/indestructible. If you cast hexproof, and I respond with disenchant, it goes off. However, hexproof can't stop a targeted spell that has already been cast. I.e. disenchant is cast, then mizzium skin. The hexproof can't stop the first disenchant.

I think the same thing.
Hexproof does belong somewhere in here...only because of the Precursor Golem.

precursor golem makes all of your golems die to a single lightning bolt? and karn, silver golem is the most classic golem but he is not grouchy lol

0
Posted 27 July 2014 at 19:57

Yes, but I give them all hexproof. :). And then none of them die to lightning bolt, it shut other kill spell. And then they all get unblockable from distortion strike. :)

I think that precurser is in no way competitive, but if built around can certainly be fun. :)

Copy spells and Banishing knack in particular are really fun. :)
