Deck Description

I never build mono color decks, but this idea intrigued me enough to try it out. Note: I don't have this deck yet, it is still in the design process. all suggestions are welcome, especially from vintage and legacy players.

Kahlni Hydra is the focus and inspiration for this deck, so if anyone can help me with that theme, that would be great. The setup I have here can get me 3 hydras on turn 3 if all goes well, and a turn 4 (33/33)primalcrux.

Deck discussion for super fast hydras

i personally would take out one dryad arbor and repace it with llanowar mentor to speed it up even more so if all goes well two hydra can make an appearance round threevinstead of just one

Even though I am counting the dryad arbors as lands? Perhaps lifestriders instead?

There's a really goofy kind of Stompy deck based all around Primalcrux, and with Khalni Hydra it got way better than before (actually the Zen. block was all around great for it).

I think the first thing I'd suggest to you is another set of mana dorks. I'd go with Arbor Elfs, simple and effective =]

After that, I would add in Leatherback Baloth, Garruk's Companion, and other things like them...really maximize the size that Primalcrux will be while also having low-cost but strong beaters to push an offensive and drop down the Hydra very early.

I'd personally scrap the Terra Stompers entirely. They add little to the deck, and with 4 in here, it's just slowing you down. Same issue the Jaddi, Chant, and Feast.

Honestly, I'd throw out your entire spell line-up =/ Only thing I would "keep" is the Overruns, but only 2 or 3 and not Overruns, but Overwhelming Stampede (insane in a Primalcrux/Hydra deck).

Vengevine, though expensive, would be great in here. You could also throw in Strangleroot and Young Wolf.

Surprised this is your first mono...most people start mono and go multi =/

cool, thanks for the input. and yeah, it is my first/only mono colored deck. I will make the changes that you suggested and redo the deck. out of curiosity though, why do the stompers not add anything?
and yeah, the lifestrider was mostly a spacefiller.
again, thanks for the advice. :)

See that looks so much faster =]

The stompers are big and beefy, but with a deck that already has some serious heavy hitters, one of which is free(or close) and the other that can get up to a 15/15 easy...they're just overkill.

cool. :) again, thanks for helping me out with this deck, because I don't normally do mono colored decks because I like having the flexibility that a second color gives. true that lands are less of a problem in mono, but I guess there are ups and downs both ways. :) any other suggestions to improve my spell list? or any other creatures that you might replace?
