Deck Description

I really wanted to break the prized amalgam/scrapheap scrounger interaction, and came across two cards that perfectly support the strategy: stitchwing skaab and haunted dead.

From there, I wanted to mitigate the effect of discarding cards by adding madness: fiery temper and asylum visitor (most aggressive creature option).

Then I stumbled on wharf infiltrator....wow this card is good. Any time you discard a creature, pay 2 to get a 3/2 = incredible rate. So...let's discard some more cards, get the skaab, dead, amalgam, scrounger into grave, and reap the value in 3/2s. Cathartic reunion and tormenting voice smooth our draws (in a 24 land deck) and load the graveyard early.

But what happens when we're out of cards to discard? Fevered visions is a surprisingly effective way to keep the damage rolling, and maintains our hand size to buyback skaab and dead.

This deck is oozing with synergy and power. So far in testing, it seems like a viable option for kaladesh standard. You have a good matchup against midrange strategies, and you can race aggro. Control with lifegain is tough...but a fast start can win the game.

Try it out on Untap or Cockatrice and let me know what you think!

How to Play

Sb plan is variable, but here are some suggestions.

Disintegrations against ramp decks.

Against declaration in stone, incendiary flow, and anguished unmaking bring in indulgent aristocrat.

In the mirror (if it happens), bring in kalitas and extra lands (concealed courtyards).

We have courtyards in board to cast fragmentize: there are enchantments and artifacts our deck cannot beat.

Deck discussion for Grixis w/ Transformative SB?

What is the selfless spirit in the sb for? I feel like you really don't mind getting wrathd as your board recovers so much faster...

The deck is surprisingly delicate to board wipes, depending on your board state. If you're going in on the wharf infiltrator plan, you really don't want to lose the 3/2s you've been slowly accumulating. I haven't tested the spirits extensively, but i have a feeling that against controlling kozilek's return/fumigate decks, it will prove useful.
