Deck Description

YOU CAN CONSIDER THIS AS A COMMUNITY PROJECT:

Favorite card of all time? Definitely liquimetal coating. It kills things. Best card ever printed? Well, it's up there with all the broken things.

I have been brewing with this idea ever since even before I posted my other modern deck on this forum, and well, to make it viable, and consistent, I cut the burn completely, and focused on pure artifact destruction. The deck seems to run pretty smoothly, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I will add more to the description as the deck evolves with the communities ideas and feedback. This deck also needs a sideboard, so suggestions for that would be good too.

Get brewing people! :D

How to Play

If you get a hand with an oxidize, a mana dork and a liquimetal coating, you are a happy person..

Who doesn't love starting to blow up opponents lands turn two? I certainly do! XD

But seriously, this deck has serious potential to blast out of the gates and start killing things every turn, some hands even let you be killing 2 lands a turn by turn 3. That's really not fair, but, oh well.

I haven't even begun to explore the possibilities, so please share your ideas for this deck.

Deck discussion for ARCHETYPE UNKOWN: forumproject

Man! This deck makes me want to splash red! Vandalblast, Hoard-Smelter Dragon, ect...could be amazing.

Also, if you stay with blue, Tamiyo would make it so your spells recycle.

Yes, but it had red originally, and it wasnt consistent enough. Besides, think about this:

-t1, mana dork
-t2, liquimetal coating+oxidize (kill their first land drop)
-t3, deconstruct+a second liquimetal (if you're lucky enough for this to happen) and then another destroy artifact spell. That's 3 destroyed permenants by turn 3. I do not know an otk modern deck that can function on zero lands. Also, the destroy artifact effects don't have to target lands, so well, opponents dorks die. And this is robots worst nightmare.

Besides, if I was to splash at all, it would be for white. That color is produced by noble, so mana would be flawless.

fair enough. What about the land. Hinterland Harbor and Breeding Pool?

The only blue card is the predator, and this deck has 9 cards hat can net you a single blue if you include the rainforests. So shock lands are just unnecessary. It's basically mono green with the predator. Because, you know, he's murder on a stick. :P

I think Tamio is way overkill. :P

The overkill in this deck is deconstruct. It's way too good. Super op! :D

Do you have any ideas for a sideboard? That is one of the main issues with this deck. Also, I'm unsure how well it would function vs eggs. Ideas?

Update, swapped the two justice's for a couple of argent mutations. I felt like the deck needed a couple more, "target becomes an artifact" effects.

Green Land/Artifact destruction is a favorite project of mine. Played Legacy Green Land Destruction -8 mana elves, Stunted Growth, Kudzu, Thermokarst, Winter's Grasp etc. Since you want to go Modern how about Icy Manipulator, Glissa, Sunseeker , Creeping Mold, Acidic Slime, Noxious Revival, Green Sun Zenith, and Sculpting Steel. The best card I think the deck needs is Fabricate. For this deck to win in needs a Coating in the opening hand, a way to get another and a way to bring it back if destroyed. You also need to stay alive in the opening turns if no coating is on the board, especially since you are playing a lot of fetchlands. Sideboard Welding Jar, Hurricane, green walls, Naturalize, Elixir of Immortality, or some other lifegain. I would love to see this deck type be tournament worthy, but I have always thought that it was more playable as Mono-Red or Red/ Green.

This is a really good deck and I really like it!
Why not try muddle the mixture? It can search for Liquimetal Coating and it can save your creatures sometimes.
Gleeful sabotage could also be useful when destroying multiple artifacts in 1 spell.
I would also sideboard Krosan's Grip against control decks.
Nullmage Advocate is an interesting card, I'm not sure how well it would work with this deck though.
If you splash white, Scourglass can be a great card as well, because you can make your own permanents artifacts....
Finally, the card that would work perfect with Coating is Arcum Dagsson + March of the Machines.
Good luck on the deck!

Isochron scepter?

I'd also add red, and use both spirit guides and 2mana-lands.

Isochron scepter!

I'd also "mate" it with red. And both spirit guides, and 2mana-lands!

Looks very smart, and maybe it would work against other decks. I really liked the concept of turning smthg to artifact then destroying but how would this deck finish the game?

Kill them with the 1/1 myr :D (Or with a 2/2 spirit guide if you go that way)
