Deck Description

Hey everyone, I have been looking for some good ways to build flash win and land destruction decks, and I think I have come across an absolute jem. Please let me know if this has been done before, as I have thought of this combo myself and I dont want anyone to think i'm copying someone else by posting this... Anyone who see's this is free to use my ideas.

The two core combos are as follows:

liquidmetal+splinter=destroy all land of one colour in you opponents deck. (this = win vs mono coloured)

Freed from the real+fatestitcher+izzet boilerworks+banefire=this is basically the key main win condition, as it means infinite red mana, and banefire cannot be countered after you spend 5.

as for the the other cards, the echo circlet and fog bank are for protecting my life while i draw for my key card in the combo's with the goblin. (freed from the real can also be used here to speed up the process) Birds of paradise is pretty self explanitory, and cultivate and the fetch lands are to reduce the likelyhood of a dead draw with an extra land.

I think it still needs to be refined, it has a really bad mana curve and it could be faster. any suggestion to fix the mana curve would be immensly appreciated. (if you comment a suggestion on this deck i will have a look at one of yours)

EDIT: I have updated the deck, replaced fatestitcher with stone seeder.
- I dropped cultivate, for an extra splinter and liquid metal so I have I higher chance of drawing them.

- I might try and make a full sideboard, I would really like any suggestions anyone has.

Deck discussion for U/R/G burn/land removal

i dnt know why but i love fog bank :p its such a good card even tho its just a 0/2 flying but it cnt take or deal damage, i suggest tectonic rift, demolish, and shrine of burning rage, also just cuz this is a suppose to be partialy a burn deck, i recomend lightning bolt, do u mind looking at sum of my decks now? i only have 4 but i only want feedback on 2 of them, btw i love ur elf deck and u should definately add in triumph of the horde into it

What do you think of something like sol ring to speed me up a little?

this deck isnt all that slow as it is, it has a good mana curve ut maybe add it in on the sideboard

Do you think I should add some tutors? That way I'm more likely to be able to pull off my combo really early. And if I can't afford them, I can just mill them with the goblin for extra card draw instead of something a little more usefull.

Im thinking of adding birthing pod to sc the goblins for fatestitcher or the other mana accel cards for goblins once i have enough in my pool. but what should i take out?

Ill add it to my sideboard untill i know.

Also, most of my decks are modern unless otherwise specified, so i was wondering if sol ring is legal in modern?

It's difficult to tutor for the cards you need with the colors you are running, so I don't recommend tutoring. There is an alternative however:

Card draw.

Blue does it better than red. Straight off, I would replace that goblin with Thought Courier instead. Costs one less mana and allows you to draw first then decide about discarding. The only time the goblin would be advantageous is if you already don't have any cards in hand.

Even so, there are better cards than thought courier. For example, I think I would recommend Jace's Archivist to help get through this deck and get your combo pieces ASAP. If you are lucky it will also really give your opponents a hard time.

Barinstorm, Gush, Rhystic Study and Standstill are also good. Personally, I would get rid of mana leak in favor of card draw. If you really want to keep the counterspells in there, the replace them with something like:

Izzet Charm, Cryptic Command, Remand, Disrupt, Exclude, or Arcane Denial.

Thanks for the compliment about my deck building advice, but I would appreciate if you checked out and commented on some of my decks.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=381598 - A deck built around Overwhelming Stampede and a lot of 1 CMC creatuers with a few fatties. It mana ramps like crazy, pumps out tokens, toughens your creatures up, then kills all players on the continent in one massive attack. Another fun deck for casual, comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=382265 - My treefolk tribal deck with a good amount of synergy. Oracle of Mul Daya and Leafcrowned Elder play mana fast and make sure you are dropping your trees for free every turn. Timbre protector makes them all indestructible for when you wrath the board! Another casual deck that can put out the majority of its creatures QUICKLY and has made multiplayer tables give up on more than one occasion. Again, comments and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestons, I swapped out mana leak and the goblins for 4 archivist (banefire is un-counterable anyway), and I will add another scaldiing tarn.

BTW, what do you think of the deck?

Ill be sure to comment on yours.

Objectively speaking the deck is built well and probably stands a good chance of going off. Subjectively speaking, I dislike all land destruction and infinite decks, this deck is both. I probably wouldn't want to play with it or against it just because I find decks like this to not be fun. I play a lot of casual, I don't like getting competitive and trying to see who can set their combo off first. In any game I host on Cockatrice I forbid decks like this, lol.

For me casual means: No infinite, no p9, no Eldrazi, no turn 3 wins. Could add no mass land destruction to that, but I don't find it comes up often.

I agree with you, I was thinking of this being competetive modern, and i would never subject any of my friends to this more than once. (If I wanted to keep my friends)

Okay, I have edited this deck a little. I would like to start building a sideboard, any suggestions would be great. :)

Maybe you should add more Fatestitcher because if it's your main combine you're going to need more than 2 in your deck so you can draw it. I reccomend using Wind Zendikon instead of Fatestitcher because it's less mana and a stronger creature on its own.

Stone seeder does the same thing as fatestitcher, so I effectively have 6 cards that fill the key slot in that combo. I'll look into wind zendikon, thanks.
:)

okay, so I looked into zendikon, but it doesnt really do much for the deck or the combo, and fog bank is a much more effective blocker for one more mana.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
