Deck discussion for Dragons

Where the hell is that Like +10 button?????
This deck rocks. If all you do is play casually with friends then this is the ticket right here. Go for flavor over power...unless it's dragons...then you get both!!!
Make this deck. Don't change a damn thing.

I was thinking about adding in Lace with Moonglove, so if Shockmaw does damage, it can kill all of their creatures, or atleast most.

It doesn't quite work like that sadly. Shockmaw would have to come in direct combat with each creature, you could do that though if say you used Lure and Lace with Moonglove, it'd be an expensive 6 mana combo and you'd probably kill whatever creature you used it on...but you could effectively clear the opponents board.

Isn't it that any damage the creature itself deals is enough to kill with deathtouch?

I could be wrong but I think that because it's a triggered ability things like that don't carry over...although if it does I sure as hell am going to credit you with finding this awesome hole hahaha

I'll check up on this for you and let you know what I find.

Holy shiiiiiiit it does work! Genius! AAAAAnd knowing that I am going to try my hand in this game. For you, I'd say a good addition to this deck overall would be to add nyleas bow, take some influence from your exalted deck and make this truly ferocious.
Again, nicely done!!!

Also things like lifelink, and double strike work that way too....

That's a good idea, and I learned the deathtouch from my friend using Onyx mage with Vithian Stinger and Ashmouth hound.

That's an absolutely killer combo, I'm definitely keeping that in my book of tricks from now on haha thanks man!

One of the better ones he has, is Deathbringer Thoctar in that deck, stinger kills, then keep swapping out +1/+1 counters and wipe the field quickly.

Does he post on vault?

Not really, or atleast, not many are public.

I made this Dragon deck to kind of duel this deck he made --->http://www.mtgvault.com/mindbreaker/decks/big-boys/

Haha I love doing that, that's how some of the best games come about. He's got a pretty serious deck there, especially with Ruric Thar... He's such a mighty pain in the ass but if you already have Nyleas Bow out and you can manage to get in with Shockmaw he's had it. Brilliant strategy. If you know how his deck plays IRL you'll be the only one to suggest cards from here on out. So far though I'd say you stand a pretty good chance of going toe to toe with him.

I'll try to come up with some clever way to get some more removal in here, because you wont be able to draw shockmaw all the time...

My main problem is most of my current irl decks are either small creatures or spell based, So his big guys can really dominate them. So with these big guys and flying, I'll most likely stand a much better chance. And sadly the card shop I go to has all of the cards except Dromoka, which is one of the better cards to help my little guys get bigger.

I'd definitely say so. This looks like it'd be able to stand up to some severe punishment. From what I can tell looking at big boys, his deck seem to play fairly slow, not too many creatures out all at once, most of his support is from the mana that druid and knotvine make. He relies a lot on them both because he doesn't have enough mana acceleration to really pump out the big guys early game, so the sooner you can take them out the better. Xenagos and mighty emergence are the cornerstones of his midgame and mage slayer is obviously the finisher when attached to Ruric Thar. Did I miss anything?

he actually rarily keeps Ruric out, since he can't cast noncreature spells, like xenagos early on.

So what ends up being the big threat? just constant assault from the woolys? lol

It's mostly meglanoth, having vigil gives him free 6 from it, or 8 with mighty emergence, and then If i attack him, he can safe passage and block with them to deal more damage back to me, which sort of makes it a passive killer at the same time offensive. I had a control deck where I just used draw to mill and enchanted his creatures with things like claustrophobia.

That sounds like a pretty serious deck. This one may work out better for you though, more diversity in your creatures which I think will play a big role in this.

http://www.mtgvault.com/khzfrost/decks/death-from-life/ Here is another deck I just made, looks like it could be fun if you get the right things, though a bit expensive.

Alsooo this is a deck I've been working on for about 3 years, through many many versions of it I've found that this one is the most reliable, it has an answer for just about anything. The biggest update I made was when Ruric Thar was introduced, blind zealot is the answer to that. And you'll be able to go toe to toe with even the most absurd control deck, all for just about $30 depending on where you get the cards. For about $10 more you can do the whole side deck which makes it even more ridiculous.

Looks like it could be fun, but sadly with the cardshop I go to, this and the dragons would total around 50-ish. And currently I'm just trading cards worth money that I don't use or only have 1 of for store credit to just save money.

Ouch. Doing one deck at a time is usually smarter anyways. Sometimes I get caught up working on too many concepts and they all run together so if I had just waited I would have spent far less money haha

I find it hard to stick with one idea, so many fun things to make and so many cards to pick from, irl I have about 10 decks, 5-6 of which I actually use, the others just because they are cool. But once some decks get out-dated in my group,I just strip it or stop using it.

I know that feeling all too well, you always hope that a deck is good enough to last forever but it never happens hahaha

I don't think I have a single deck that's more than a year old except for that black one, although to be fair aside from dash hopes and vampire nighthawk there's nothing left of the original.

I think my oldest current deck is my extort, or a deck I got from my brother when he quit, The extort goes back to about summer last year, and the other to about 2012-ish, with some cards thrown in every now and then

And also, do you happen to play League of Legends?

0

Unfortunately no, currently Star Wars The Old Republic consumes most of my time, between that and work (I do most of my magic at work shhh lol) I don't really have time for much else, although I may pick it up if SWTOR or magic taper off.

Lol, I mostly play Evolve, GTA V, and League, and since I'm homeschooled I can browse this site fairly often and get ideas for decks. The last time I actually played magic was 2 weeks ago when I got a Nyx booster box.

Edited a little bit, but might just entirely remake this. so far, took out Wardscale and replaced with new Dromoka, for obvious reasons, and then replaced Destructor with Savage Ventmaw for the mana , so I could possibly get a free dragon out.
