Deck Description

This is a budget Izzet deck that relies on the ability to transform your opponents creatures into small creatures that can be easily picked off by your other creatures/spells. This deck falls into the Budget series. The Budget series consists of decks that are valued at under $40.

How to Play

This deck relies on your ability to transform your opponents threatening creatures into pint-sized nuisances that can be easily disposed of. The best play for turn one is often a tap dual land. This provides you with a diverse mana pool which is important late game. Alternatively, if your opponent played a creature that could make the future troublesome feel free to burn it to a crisp if that option is possible. Turn two has a few scenarios that can be utilized. A combo of Diminish and a burn spell will allow you to kill almost any creature they have in play. Alternatively, if the creature has two toughness you can always stack burn spells for the kill. I like to play Fireforger's Puzzleknot this turn as it allows me to potentially kill a weak creature this turn while also allowing me to have access to a burn spell in the late game. As the game progresses it is important to know which creatures are key to your opponents strategy so you can transform them and kill them. Serendib Sorcerer, Diminish, Ovinize, and Turn to Frog all allow you to transform a specific creature into a manageable nuisance. While Dual Shot, Electrickery, Forked Bolt, and Fireforger's Puzzleknot give you access to targeted burn spells that can pick off these weak creatures. Your big plays come in the combination of Polymorphist's Jest and either Goblin Chainwhirler or an overloaded Electrickery. This allows you to transform all of your opponents creatures into 1/1's and then torches them in a fiery explosion of awesomeness!
