Worldfire Deck Idea

by KJSJ3 on 10 August 2012

Main Deck (8 cards)

Creatures (2)

Enchantments (1)

Land (1)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Do you think that this could work? O-ring or fiend hunter a creature you control with haste. Then use worldfire and swing for game. If this works, how would you build a deck around it?

haha, the idea made it front page before the deck. Check out the actual deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=372954

If you post a comment with an idea that is not standard, let me know the format. Thanks.

Deck discussion for Worldfire Deck Idea

It could also be useful in the sense of Oring one of your creatures, cast worldfire at the beginning of your turn, play your land after, and play a 1drop red creature with haste

only issue is the mana that i see, i think that this would work if you ran green ramp with the red as the second color and splash white and use bonfire as a backup win con, you also need some creatures to protect your life while you build up so i suggest things that can hurt the opponent into attacking like doomed traveler or goblin arsonist or something along those lines

Would you mind taking a look at my deck?

i like what hanya has thought about it.

the problem is going to be stalling long enough to get it. being so expensive its going to be a tough one to pull out and it might end up as a back up win. maybe token making for a defense??? ill have to think bout this one.

I was thinking of a token base too. This is what I came up with. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=372954

I like this idea, you could throw in sparkmage apprentice too to exile with oring or fiendhunter. you put in seething songs, rite of flames, desperate rituals, ect... and this would be golden

The problem is it is VERY combo-based so you would have to cross your fingers and pray for the right cards and on top of that hope that everything goes off without a hitch. a mana leak or any other counter spell sounds like a loss.

Mad Prophet will help you draw the cards you need and/or be a target for Fiend Hunter and O-Ring.

Why don't we take these ideas and turn them into a deck? http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=379764

in my opinion this deck concept screams doomed travelers i think that would be the fastest move maybe o ring a vexing devil even i dont know just a thought great idea

Vexing Devil and Doomed Traveler are good cards but they don't work with what this deck is trying to do. The deck wants a card that can immediately attack after the Worldfire. Doomed Traveler won't give you the spirit since it is exiled instead of killed. If someone knows you're running Worldfire as your combo finisher they will just pay the life loss for the Devil and you won't get him onto the field.

I like the direction this is going. I am going to have to play around with this idea myself. I think the problem I would find would be mana. It takes a lot to get things out as well using worldfire (and hopefully returning a few things)

Good Deck Idea. Please let me know any suggestions on mine as well.

I made a deck like this before, and it did not work out to well. There are to many agro decks that take you out fast. I went with a token aproach. if you are worried about manna remember you have lots of tokes with battle hymn and infernal plunge.

If you want something a little less devastating than Worldfire, Hour of Reckoning will kill everything thats not a Token. That will let you keep your hand.

Honestly, is not really necessary to get a creature that can attack in the same turn as you cast worldfire.
After casting it, both players exile everything and get their lifes set to 1. No one can cast anything, no one can gutshot you, all depends on what your oponent draw and unless your oponent cast a menmite, they are out of options.
You can safely wait one turn and attack in the next one with the creature you exiled

I'm working on something, mainly UG

I would like to keep it standard for FNM, but if you have any ideas for legacy, I'm all for it.

Why not just play lightning bolt and then respond to it with world fire? World fire would resolve and them lightning bolt would finish the game.

You could O-ring/Fiend Hunter an Inferno Titan, Vexing devil, Chandra, Hellrider, Reckless Brute, and I'm sure many many more in standard. If you wanted to get technical or keep going after you use Worldfire, you could exile an Elderscale Wurm with the O-ring/Fiend Hunter. Just some ideas.

Mono red with as much ramp and blockers as possible to stall, suspend Rift Bolt, cast Worldfire, end turn and hope they can't take you out in that turn =) A little suspense never hurt anyone.
