It does its job of deck thinning . It's basically probe 5-8.
Yeah, I keep seeing it on a lot of places ave I just can't wrap my head around it. I guess that the life for draw is a pretty good ability and so a turn 1 draw or a no mana draw is a pretty big deal.
I think the same thing...something like Gitaxian Probe is the same thing. I guess people like the extra choice of being able to play a swampwalk creature.
Well as an ability it is also difficult to counter, so it had an advantage in that sense.
After some play testing I'm considering taking out cabal ritual. What should I replace it with?
Well, for the sake of the grand architect ramp... You might go with Phyrexian Walker. 0/3 for free. Other than that... Some control in the form of counters or removal would probably be good here.
I'd switch the artifact mana ramp to run with myr, 1 palladium, 2 galvanizers, and any other myr is infinite mana (I ran a deck that hit this turn 4 or 5 every game with sol ring then cast enter the infinite to empty a whole deck of Eldrazi onto the field)
