Deck Description

please help me build this, i dont have too much experience with competetive control decks. I'm going for a competetive grixis control deck that uses runechanter's pike + some creature, probably delver, as the win condition. i'm trying to make grixis competitive again.

Not sure this deck has enough mana sinks to survive the long game, and without sphinx's revelation i think it may suffer versus esper.

update: still good, still suffers a bit vs esper but less people are playing it now. m14 added some cool shit too. like DOOM BLADE

update: now rotated out of standard. Sad times

How to Play

duskmantle seer will help you accelerate and will punish your opponent for big spells. Don't like your life situation? devour him.

Deck discussion for Standard Grixis

If you're going Runechanter you'd likely want more natural flashback available and not rely solely on Snappy. Also if you're running Duskmantle Bob you likely want to at least sideboard if not get rid of Soul Ransom entirely. Maybe swap them out for an additional Visi stalker and Rune Pike.

Would be interested in seeing 4 Forbidden Alchemy in here to help ensure you get the draws you want while putting the right cards in your graveyard. Also look to put some Dimir charms in instead of Thought score. I know it costs more, but it adds utility and gives you similar results. Just some ideas I guess. Good luck.

Sometimes, deck building can be frusterating when the keystone card of the deck isn't that good. Make your life easeir and drop the Runechanter. If this were legacy then the Runechanter could be the MVC (most valuable card) by dumping your library and then swining... (think of a oath of druids deck that would fetch one unblockable haste creature that has been equiqed while putting the majority of your cards into your graveyard). However, in Standard that isn't normally an option. Perhaps you could board the Runechanter in case you run into a mill deck:) In all honesty, If you really like this deck... just switch to trepanation blade and then add more mill cards like thought scour. then your playing agro mill

runechanter's pike is not the keystone, just something i thought could steal a win fairly quick. The objective of this deck is to build a competitive grixis deck and i thought that a delver with a runechanter's pike would help. if you have a better idea, i would love to hear it. do you really think trepanation blade would be better than runechanter's pike?
