ah good idea...I had that other one (mind shatter), but I now see that Mind Sludge would work a lot better...thanks!

You won't need the tutors with liliana, trust me. I run a deck like this in actuality but I splash red for blightning and burning inquiry. Bloodchief Ascension is a good addition as well as Mire's toll. In my experience, mire's toll is almost as good as Duress. If not better. Blood Seeker and the Acolyte can go. Possibly add in a Nyxathid or two. It's a 7/7 for 3 mana if they don't have a hand, which is easy to do. I seriously suggest splashing red for blightning burning inquiry and terminate and even lightning bolt.

One card to think about:

Hymn to Touach.

Also, Mind Sludge is really expensive. I'd rather get cheaper things, since Mind Sludge is a waste past 5 or 6. Sub those for the Hymns. Also, try some Needle Specters instead of Guul Draz Specters. I love the ritualists, though.

Also, no Dark Rituals?

Defiantly a good idea, though I´m a little concerned about the creatures being easy slaughter for 2 damage spell cards.
Then again, they would need some luck not to loose those cards with your other card stealing spells :P

Personally I would ditch Mind sludge by the time you can afford it you will have 5 swamps, at that point in time your opponent could be top decking from prior discards you have forced upon them, making the card useless.
I would also ditch the Mire's toil since again your opponent can pick which card(s) they show you limiting your influence and by the time you have any sizeable number of swamps to increase your influence your opponents hand size should be minimal once again.

In their place I would use Cunning Lethemancer and Scepter of Fugue, both of which have repeated use and are sheaper than Mindsludge meaning that they might be of some use to you.

Mind Sludge can be important, but it definitely does not warrant running 3 or 4 of. Running 2 should be enough, and siding extras depending on the deck you are playing against. If you resolve a Mind Sludge against an opponent with 3 or more cards with little board presence (that is removable with Doom Blade), it pretty much spells you win the game unless lady luck hates you.

If you want to abuse Quest for the Nihil Stone, you should run more copies of it since you have to get it early to be able to trigger it. If you top deck it into your fourth or fifth turn, chances are that you have already discarded your opponent's hand and it won't be able to trigger.

I agree with subbing out Mire's Toil for a better alternative. Could be Scepter of Fugue. Maybe removal or protection.

For sideboard, you might want to run Deathmarks, Infests and other spells that will improve your chances against different decks.

1 more megrim and possibly a tutor or two IMO... Getting an early megrim is devastating

I don't think Bloodchief Ascension is particularly useful in a deck that can't quickly damage an opponent to build the counters. If your opponent has a hand by the time you can cast Mind Sludge, you're not doing a bang up job at killing their hand.

I enjoy very much the aspect of killing my opponents hand, which is why Liliana is my favorite walker as well, and I have never looked at Megrim and liked it. It is pretty much useless once your opponent is top decking. Why run them when you can run more hand kill? Megrim isn't worth the mana, at least to me, unless you're playing cards to make your opponent draw so they can discard.

In summation, remove the Bloodchief Ascension, Megrim and Mind sludge for some more field control for the little bastards that your opponent gets down before you manage to kill their hand and more cheap hand kill. Maybe some more land.

And now, shameless self pimping. Check out my decks and leave comments. Always appreciated.

A very promising deck.

I am sorry I can not give you any good advice since I am an extended deck builder.
I leave standard setups for more talented hands.

Much better than the last time I seen this deck. Much more consistent. I would like see another Smother and Guul Draz Specter, but the question is what to take out.... and I don't know.

My little brother uses a deck like this and he beats people that have played for years, so in my opinion from what i see this deck will be hard to beat unless the person you plays has heavy draw support cards so great deck and i feel sorry for your opponent

you might want to side some underworld dreams in against draw decks. Prevents them from freely getting back their hands

I have a deck similar to this. I like yours, using the Quest for the Nihil Stone is a cool end game. Your deck looks like it works great. My deck relies more on wiping the board with infest while forcing the opponent to discard to pave the way for Halo Hunter and Nxyathid to finish them off, Check it out please "Demon Control"

A very well built standard deck.

I can not give you any advice on imporving it since I am more of an extended deck builder.

After a few years out of the game, this deck has inspired me. My first newly constructed deck shall be a discard deck.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with many of these new cards or others that have been printed in the last few years. I can't offer much useful advice to a modern player in a Type 2 format.

I would have to play against it to give advice on this one. It looks solid, but you can't tell what ratios you really need on cards until you have played it a couple hundred times. =)

P.S.
Megrim maybe??

It is a really awesome deck and yet your opponent will freak out for sure . I can give you a few red card in case that you wont to make this deck double colored, so check this minor combo-shocker-dragon mage-dauthi embrace the second one for some black : skulltap-diabolic tutor-call of the netherworld also i have some blue ones that you might be interesting in: spy network-telepathy- memory erossion

Nice standard deck I gotta say. I was wondering to run Liliana Vess on my discard deck also ("rack rats" , if you want to check it out) but Im wondering if it got too high mana cost for it. I was going to add some quest for nihil stones also and Im pretty sure Im doing that, they work wonders in discard deck. Have you considered Mire's Toll ? Should be nice also since you got 22 lands.

I would suggest Bituminous Blast instead of the doomblade. It cascades into anything in your deck, and Black is a popular color in Standard right now. Jund's biggest threats are black, Obviously Vamps are still popular. So Doomblade doesn't help you in quite a few situations. You could add the Doomblades into the Sideboard so that if you face a non-black deck you could board them in.

I like the deck idea. How has it been working out?

This is a good deck I run somthing similar. I would suggest taking out two of the pyroclasms and subing in two infest. I know it cost one more but it is very effective againts nasty regenerating and indestructable creatures. I'm also a big fan of exchanging life for cards. I would put in a couple of Sign in Bloods and maybe take out a doom blade and a mind rot. I chose those two cards because your gonna end up stuck with these in your hand late game because your opponent is not gonna have a hand. The doom blade will get you stuck at times against black decks. Also, Sign in Blood can come in handy to finish an opponent as it does 2 damage to them if you choose.
