Deck Description

Partially based off of a few Epic Experiment decks I found on the Wizards Site. As an avid Izzet fan (just under my love for Orzhov), when EE was released I always wanted to use it in a deck, but whenever I did, it usually fizzled horribly. After looking up a few decks, this is my take on a standard EE-centric mill deck.

Deck discussion for Mind of a Mad Genius

I tried something like this with Guttersnipe, didn't work out so well. However, it was prerotation and I haven't attempted a similar build. I would suggest Guttersnipe and maybe a few Spellheart Chimera. No more than 2 Epic Experiment, they just get exiled together when casting one and you never want an opening hand with more than 1. Multiple Psychic Spiral is a terrible idea, better served with multiple Jace, Architect of Thought with that being said Chandra Pyromaster would be a great addition. You need more spot removal and less cute card selection. One Thassa, God of the Sea would be awesome. In reality almost all your instants and sorcery's need to be either burn or draw spells. Whew!! Think about it. Also, don't forget to include shocklands and you should be on your way. Good luck!!!

While I appreciate the comment and helpful tips, I am on a tight, TIGHT budget, which means no Shocks, and probably no planeswalkers (plus, I don't like to use shocks unless I'm making 3+ colored decks and/or absolutely need to make sure that they're the basic land types).

I understand why you chose Guttersnipes and the Chimera, they're definitely good cards for Izzet (I run them in my other Izzet deck). Unfortunately, however, I like themes in my decks, and with both of my Izzet decks, I try to run as little creatures as possible. I only chose the goblins so I can cast my stuff faster. I'll probably sideboard the other two creatures, though.

As for other suggestions, I'll probably see if I can fix those up. I chose four Experiments so I can deffinately at least get one each game. I barely construct normal decks anymore, preferring to build Commander/EDH decks, because for me, they're a lot easier, and more fun. Still, I'll appreciate the criticism, and I'll look into seeing about changing up the deck a little.
