Deck Description

This is just something that I want to take to standard once M15 rotates in.

The deck came into being when i was thinking of the different color wedges and looking at decks based around them. I encountered a comment on a random forum saying that the WBR color combination has always sucked. Taking that as a challenge, and looking to have a bit of fun in standard (which hasn't happened for me in ages) i started playing around with some different card interactions, eventually coming up with a deck that bases itself around stalling the board and eventually overrunning the opponent with pack rats.

Is it janky? Yes.
Is the deck fun to play? I have fun with it.

7 out of 10 games won. Mulligan till you have at least 2 blockers in your hand, kill their small threats with anger of the gods, win late game.

How to Play

This is probably one of the most interesting decks to play that I've built, since it requires a lot of knowing when and when not to cast certain spells, meaning you're going to need to have a good grasp on what deck you're playing against.

The early game is relatively simple, drop a few nyx-fleece rams or some wall of essences and start building up.

If you're playing against a really aggressive deck, either kill the early threats or block with the wall of essence and use nyx-fleece ram to stabilize your life total and use a anger of the gods to wipe the board.

If you're playing against a deck like monsters or devotion, you will want to save the kill spells for later, and in the case of mono black, hope to god you have a high life total by the time gray merchant comes out.

Mid game is when the fun begins. You're going to want to get out an ogre slumlord, and maybe pack rat, desecration demon or Tymaret, the murder king. In the case of the demon or the rat, the game is really simple: smash face and win. If you have a Tymaret in play and a Tymaret in the graveyard though, you get to play with one of my favorite combos in standard. Tymaret in the grave can sacrifice his counterpart in play to get a rat, and then return to your hand, allowing for an infinite cycle of rats and Tymarets, assuming you have the mana for it. Then you can either overrun the opponent with rats or sacrifice them all to whittle them down to 0.

Late game should be pretty simple, you'll have at least one of the following things: Lots of rat, a massive demon or the infinite Tymaret engine up and running. Then all that's left for you to do is either bash the enemy's face in with attacks or sacrifice a bunch of creatures for Tymaret's ability, and maybe get a few more rats.
