Play Testing of Version 13 Revealed:
Version 13:
13 is effective, however it plays to slowly. Orzhov must have board presence very quickly, extorting for as much as possible each turn. getting stalled at 4 mana without a Crypt Ghast is a nightmare.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The debate:
Liliana Of The Dark Realms > Mutilate =/= Killing Wave.
There isn't usually a need for "mass removal" on turn 4. Not many players have enough "nasties" on the field by then to require it. I can usually tolerate their board presence enough to Just -1 Lilly and remove something.

Exquisite Blood =/= Cathars' Crusade?
This is a debate I am feeling out. I'm not sure. Exquisite is Opponent Loss of Life, Cathars' Just makes everything Bigger.

I am also debating splashing two Sylesnia Guild Gates. and removing two swamps. It actually wouldn't harm the Curve. The deck requires 12 White Sources and is only getting 8, (and running fine mind you) It requires 20 Black Sources and is getting 22.

Blood Scrivener =/= Sign in Blood
No idea on this one yet. I have to see how easy it is to keep cards out of my hand.

How to Play

RULE#1 DO NOT PLAY THE CURVE.
Example of RULE#1:
If you have 4 mana and 1 extort trigger on the field then you only have 3 available mana to use. So get over it cast what you can and extort it. ALWAYS
BLEED THEM DRY AT EVERY CHANCE.

RULE#2: Ramp into Pontiff and Blood Baron using Crypt Ghast, , extort the spells always and always follow RULE#1.

RULE#3: Two Pontiffs means each creature has TWO extort triggers. E.G. Each Creatures full potential costs at minimum 2 mana. A screecher with 1 pontiff on the field has two extort triggers; with two Pontiffs? 3 triggers.

RULE#4: Use Ready // Willing (Willing) on your opponents turn after they declare combat. Rarely a situation will arise in which you will need to use this as an offensive spell. One "Willing" and they will be hesitant to attack you again if you have 3 mana open. So try to use that to your advantage.

RULE#5: If unsure... Read Rule #1

Deck discussion for Merciless Orzhov v.14

I see that youre going for an extort build, but I don't think basilica screecher is gonna get there. I'd drop him for 3 vampire nighthawk and another pontiff. That way you get more value while maintaining the extort theme well :)

Yeah, I am going to swap for the Nighthawks. It is just to much value. To ignore at this point. Previous to DMZ, I wouldnt have because I needed to keep enough extort triggers available.
