so its just fast beatdown. however, what happens when you run out of steam?

Hopefully you won't run out of steam. That's why you want to attack every turn. And if you have captive flame out with, lets say, 1 ornithopter, 1 phyrexian walker, and a crookshank kobolds, with no enchantments then and your opponent blocs the phyrexian and kobolds then you can tap mana to have the ornithorpter deal damage equal to all your untapped lands, assuming you tap all your untapped lands.
