Deck Description

Mana Short + Winter Orb = boo hoo for an opponent. Ley Druids with Instill Energy can untap lands with Fertile and Wild growth = yay yay for you. Medium sized creatures can come out and play while you still have plenty of mana for counterspelling. You get the idea. It\'s a control deck but has quick mana for getting medium sized creatures out very fast. And then laying the smackdown.

Deck discussion for Winter Orb Smackdown

You need Counterspell, much more effective than mana leak or power sink. Isn't the winter org going to kind of hinder your own spell casting a bit too much? You could counter act that with Llanwar Elves instead of the Land Enchantments. That way they still untap. Just some thoughts.

Actually, the Power Sinks act as Counterspell + Mana short, since the opponent must still tap as much as they can to play X. I've thought about Llanwar elves...maybe they will go back in. The idea with the land enchantments is that my insilled druids can pump tons of mana out of them even if they won't untap as normal.

I have a deck that has Winter Orb. I like using mana producing artifacts (Prismatic Lens, Talisman of Unity, Darksteel Ingot, Coldsteel Heart, etc.). Selesnya Sanctuary might be a land you could add.

Curious as to why you chose Phantom Monster....I'd hate to have my land tapped and have to deal with Juggernauts.....not too bad.

Looks really good! Try Frozen Aether though... It taps ALL of your opponents spells... 8/10 nice deck. Rate mine please!!!

Yeah, Phantom Monster was actually replacement for Serendib Efreet - since the Orb does slow the game, the efreet's damage would build up too much. I've thought about Azure Drake, but only deals 2 damage. So I ended up with Phantom Monster. Anyone have a better idea other than phantom monster?

A potential creature to use might be Allosaurus Rider You could play him without paying any mana (just lose 2 green spells). I don't know if it would be worth it or not....just a thought.

I played against a deck a bit like this in MTGO that used Winter Orb with a bunch of snow lands and tap/untap effects to lock down the other side of the board as well as untapping their own lands. Just something to consider; the deck looks good as is.

instead of phantom monster you could throw in cards like spire golem and tangle golem, They have affinity for islands and forests which could allow you to play them without using any mana at all.
Hmm... This deck is quite strange, i'm not sure what the final outcome is other than might is. Try getting more consistency in the deck with some more mights to finish your opponent off as quickly as possible once you have them controlled.
Also dawn's reflection is a great acceleration card, look it up

Also, you could thrown in more power sinks and mana shorts instead of mana leaks
This is a great looking deck that i don't think will be prepared for or know how to beat.
