Deck discussion for One cost creature aggro

If your going to run one drops for aggro I would suggest getting your hands on some shocklands because of the mana diversity the deck has.

He's right. Also if you're running one drops, consider Varolz, his ability would give you cheap scavenge creatures too. Also Gavony township is another good choice.

And if you can cut the deck down by 10 cards, oh and murder investigation is another option, would work well with commander's authority, and intangible virtue for your tokens.

I would actually consider taking out the green entirely as you only have 2 creatures that need it, and its making your mana situation hard. take the bond beetle and the Slitherhead out and you can have a 60 card 2 color deck that would work a lot better.

I have to agree with Soggy on that one, green just seems kinda like you just threw it in there

Your mana base is terrible guild gates only work in control and mid-range decks. Aggro needs lots of shock lands and basics and at most in a deck with this many colors you should have only 3 or less core-set duels (including the lands from Innistrad Block). Now there is one main flaw in your deck that makes it less playable. Is the fact you have no curve so your hand will empty entirely in just a few turns and if someone kills your creatures your screwed. Add some two mana cost creatures and some three mana cost creatures. To generate a curve and add some removal take out the high cost bad enchantments and add removal like O-Ring, Smite (If you like removal that has a catch I personally do not) etc. Good luck with the deck. Cute Idea but unfortunately not standard viable.

Replaced the tamed cats with boros mastiff to keep the lifelink but with 2 cost as well as added Odric, Master Tactician to guve it more curve ive also been thinking about weapon surge to give a + 1 to all my creatures with its overload cost

Cathars crusade is there because i can easily drop alot of monsters to get some +1+1 counters fast and run over things

It is a good idea, don't let one person's opinion sway your idea, it could go really well. I for one really like the idea. Look for more battalion effects seeing as you will be swinging with lots of guys.

The problem with this deck is it runs out of cards too fast.
Youre going to empty your hand, generally, in the first 3 turns. then what?
If youre going to only run 1 drops, you really need some sort of card draw to replenish your hand.

True but what card like that woukd run good in this deck? Or in a way. That may make more sense, how could it benefit me alot on turn 4

His best bet is to run Mentor of the meek.

I thought about that

Run down to 20 lands and take out an odric, and run 4 mentors. Should help with your draw issues.

The best thing you can do is go and search the card database, tick the "text" box, type in the effect you're after, like "draw a card" and tick the necessary colours and exclude all others, then pick the sets you want, easy.

I didnt see to many good ones except one that was 2 red mana , discard a card and draw 2

yeah wild guess, but with mentor you're not discarding cards. It looks good now, you've kept the theme you were originally going for, and you have a way to keep your cards flowing, now you just have to fix that mana source and you're good to go. Consider the following (I know it might seem expensive) Based off your 21 land run - 4 Sacred Foundry, 4 Clifftop Retreat, 3 slayer's stronghold, 9 plains, 1 mountain

There's a red card that discards your have and draws 7, dont recall the name.

What i wish is thati could figure out a way to not pay for mana cost so i can abuse mentors effect more often

0
Posted 02 May 2013 at 03:53

Not really possible, but mentor's effect is fine, you will always have the mana open to do it especially for one drops. It is going to cost you at most 3 mana everytime to cast a creature and draw a card. You can only do Mentor's effect once per creature that enters

0

Can u use multiple mentors effects on the same summon?

0
Posted 02 May 2013 at 03:56

Yes. Because each would trigger separately. It's just like the extort mechanic, works in the exact same fashion.

Yea. M mm.

0

So if you have 2 mentors on the field, and you have 3 mana open, you cast a boros elite. You can therefore pay 2 mana, and draw 2 cards, as you have 2 mentors on the field.

Btw did a test hand, by turn five without any prior damage i would deal 17 damage considering i had odric and could direct all blocks to one creature

Your gonna need a SB if doing FNM or tournament play, I highly recommend boros charm in case they try to board wipe, which could seriously hurt you. Charm also has the additional 4 damage if you need it to finish a game. Also consider Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. A good card to go for, 2/1 first strike will kill most, not counting the anti-spell aspect.

That is your biggest mistake LolDragonBorn. No sideboard means your deck never changes, meaning you might win the first game, but your opponent is just going to sideboard in what they need and wipe the floor with you the next two games..... Highly recommend a sideboard.... 4 Boros charm, 3 Massive Raid, 3 Thalia, 3 O-ring, 2 Legion's Initiative.

The thing is im not good with changing my decks midgame , every tounament i play , mtg or some other, im always found it easier to just use the same cards, because when i do try siding i wind up making stupid moves

ok up to you, is your deck after all....

0

Lol maybe, but i take all opinions into consideration, most of the time, i should probably get better at siding anyways

It is rather important, I never used to sideboard, but I'm glad I do now.... But remember if you do, the sideboard has to contain 15 cards.

Legion's Initiative states "At the beginning of the next combat" does that mean if you trigger it on your turn, your creatures won't come back until the next combat step or next time a creature attacks?

0
Posted 03 May 2013 at 03:47

If you activate it in your turn, it's the opponent's combat, if it's in the opponent's turn, your combat. And yes they can attack / block as normal as they gain haste

0
Posted 03 May 2013 at 04:01

I mean, will they come into play if no creature attacks/blocks? It doesn't state "combat step" just "combat"

0
Posted 03 May 2013 at 04:53

Beginning of combat, I don't know what you aren't understanding..... There is always a combat phase even if no creatures attack, it's how the turn works....

Here is what it says word for word.

"Exile Legion's Initiative: Exile all creatures you control. At the beginning of the next combat, return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control and those creatures gains haste until end of turn."

Does it say anywhere in there "if no creatures attack"??? No? I didn't think so. Basic rule of magic, read the card......

0
Posted 03 May 2013 at 05:38

Don't have to be a dick about it, I didn't understand it because it doesn't say combat step. Taking Aurelia for example, she says afterwards there is an additional combat phase, not an additional combat, as Legion's Initiative states. So the question was, is it still considered a combat if nothing happens? Legitimate question.

0
Posted 03 May 2013 at 05:44

And I gave you a legitimate answer, sorry I wasn't trying to be a dick and didn't mean to sound like one. I know where you're coming from and even if there is no creatures that attack, the turn still passes through that phase. If you have ever played magic online you can see this in action.

Never forget the number one rule in magic, the card takes precedence over any rules

0

Yeah, you came off a bit rude lol but thank you for being mature about it, and for the answer, but it's like if nobody attacks your not gonna turn around and be all "Hey dude, look at all this combat going on" lol

haha yeah. Nah it's an answer to thing like Supreme Verdict, Terminus, Mizzium Mortars, Cyclonic rift, Aetherize, and a whole lot of other burn and hate spells.
