Deck Description

I've had a thing for vampires since they became so prevalent in Magic a few years ago. This is a deck I built for multiplayer games, so many of the cards include "each player loses life" effects. The Screecher and Crypt Ghast arn't vampires, but they have Extort so it fits the theme. Plus, the Screecher is a good 2-drop flier while the Ghast doubles mana output and serves and its own sink if you can't use everything it produces. Fun deck for casual multiplater games, but it can be MEAN.

This deck has become even more deadly recently, with newer cards that blend in so well with the original intent. Sanguine Bond + Sanctum Seeker is downright nasty, and it gets even worse if you are able to have Throne of the God-Pharaoh mixed in as well. Chalice of Life can be fun to swap in, but by the time you have gained 10 life you have probably dealt lethal damage already.

I have made a few updates over the years, but the core of the deck remains the same. Replaced Pulse Tracker in favor of Vicious Conquistador, which does the same thing in a slightly tougher package. Sanctum Seeker also fits right in, so I've made room for a couple of those as well. I've played around with other vampire creatures, but have stuck to my original lineup for the most part.

How to Play

Nothing complicated here. Get your vamps on the field and suck the life out of your opponents. They will have a very difficult time wearing you down with all the life gain in this deck, so be prepared to get ganged up on. Luckily there are a few different "each player" bombs, especially when you get your mana production ramped up. Endgame play will either be dropping the Bloodwitch with a horde of vampires on the table, or using Exsanguinate. If Sanguine Bond is also on the table, someone is going to be dead and will probably hate you.

Used to have Exquisite Blood, but retired it to keep this just a little friendlier. Most people don't enjoy playing against instant-win combos, but I have it there to toss in if the mood strikes. I previously had some Cabal Coffers and Nykthos shrine lands in here, but I have removed them due to their high dollar value and relatively low effect they have on this deck overall. Replaced them with Leechridden Swamps, which are actually more helpful and work with Crypt Ghast.
