Deck Description

Damn Quick Black/Green Infect
I've played against several mono-colored infect decks with this one and win most of the time (90% at least). Most decks other than those don't even stand a chance unless it's a permission deck.

Deck discussion for Pass the Penicillin

I can use all the help I can get...I started with Revised and stopped at Alliances, so I'm just picking everything back up again. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Try this;
-2 Blackcleave Goblin
-2 Tangle Angler
-2 Explore
-2 Doom Blade
+4 Go for the Throat
+2 Plague Stinger
+2 Blight Mamba
Basically what I'm aiming for here is more consistency and a better mana curve. And job well done!

I have most of these cards put together already. The only things I don't have right now are the cabal coffers. found most of the ones i needed +2 of, for 9 cents a piece. Thanks again for the great advice! =]

Agreed. Also, look into acquiring Verdant Catacombs or other B/G duals to help accelerate you through in the early game.

Otherwise, in terms of pump, add some. Cards like Giant Growth, Groundswell, and Prey's Vengeance can turn a 5 turn game into a 3 turn game in seconds. Don't miss out on that opportunity. All of these options will keep your curve low, as well.

For infect to work, you really need to get an infector on the board turn 2 so you can swing with him pumped for 7+ counters on turn three. Speed is so important for infect.

I welcome any comments or criticism you can offer on any of the decks that I have posted on the site (just click on my name to see the deck list). Thanks in advance!

good advice! so would i replace some of my basic lands with the Catacombs?
and perhaps replace the relic putrescence with groundswell/giant growth/prey's vengeance?
i will definitely take a look at your decks as well, thanks again!

Yes, typically you replace basic lands with fetch lands as they are just going to get them anyway. So you could replace them pretty much 2 for 2 (drop 2 swamps and 2 forests).

In regards to pump, you could probably add it in in place of creatures. To really get the deck to fire, you really want to have more pump than creatures, and then just mulligan until you have a 2 CC infecter in your hand (I'll mulligan down to 5 following this rule). 4 CC infecters are potentially dangerous, consider swapping those out for pump. In a perfect world, you're doing damage with turn 2 infecters that are getting pumped to high heaven.

I've been thinking about replacing the Cabal Coffers with 2 more Dark Rituals, but am not entirely convinced. Any thoughts?

I also replaced the Ichorclaw Myr's with Melira, Sylvok Outcast just to screw with the infect decks I'm playing against. Probably should be a sideboard card though.

-2 Swamp
-2 Forest
+4 Inkmoth nexus
-2 Go for the Throat
+2 Doom Blade
-4 Untamed might
+4 Mutagenic Growth
-2 Dark Ritual
+2 Groundswell
-4 Blight Mamba
+4 Glistner Elf
-4 Hand of the Praetors
+4 Contagion clasp
-2 Royal Assassin (Not infect)
+2 Nature's claim

I would recommend these changes because it will lower the mana curb and it will speed up your infect wins. Nice build though!

I almost forgot
-2 Dark Ritual
+2 Vines of Vastwood

I appreciate your input, however, there are reasons for a couple of the "odd" cards I have in there. IE: Hand of Praetors are nice to get out on 2nd turn when you're playing infect and Dark Ritual makes that happen. Contagion Clasp just does not work, proliferate is way slower than sending unstoppable counters every time I cast infect creatures. Royal Assassin shuts down my opponents onslaught with non-vigilant creatures. Having said that, I do like the Inkmoth Nexus (just can't afford 4 of it) and Mutagenic Growth and Glistener Elf would work well and probably will eventually be swapped in. Untamed Might will probably head to my side board for longer multi-player games. Thanks again for your input. I like being made to think about why I put certain cards in here and possible replacements. =]

umm invigorates much? +4/+4 and if u have a forest( which u will) you make an opponent gain 3 life and no mana needed... oh wait they gain 3 life.. but... oh yeah your going for poison counters... :D invigorate the best <33

That's definitely a pretty good card, but I think I would go with Primal Bellow or Unnatural Predation just because of the lower casting cost. Plus the ability to add trample to an infect deck is pretty sick. I appreciate the input always though!! =]

Try out phyrexian vatmother it is immune to most removal and provides a late game

0

Yeah, I like that. I could definitely benefit from adding a late game creature. I am a little shaky about putting in a creature that will be dealing me poison counters though because I play against several opponents who use infect decks. What do you think about Phyrexian Hydra or (*gulp at the price*) Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon? It only costs one more to cast, plus the Hydra is way bigger or the Dragon is flying, etc, etc..
Or maybe I should use the Vatmother in combination with Melira, Sylvok Outcast? ;-)

If you can afford it I would say Skithiryx. If you can't the hydra is a good substitute.

put in red and goblin tunneler with assault strobe, then use tunnelers ability to make your creature unblockable, like your crusader, then put giant growth on it then assault strobe, thats 10 poison counters and ive seen that done on turn 2

yeah that's a pretty good combo for sure, but I'm afraid adding a third color to this deck would only cause mana problems. I appreciate the input always though! I might actually be making a red infect deck soon, so I will definitely keep this combo in mind for that! =]

Consider Virulent Swipe and Prey's Vengeance with rebound.

Well thought-out deck. Only thing I'd consider would be Vampire's Bite. Obviously it's weaker than most green pump and its kicker is useless, but with an even mana split, it might be useful to have black buff in there too.

Here's my G/B Infect deck that has been obliterating in tournaments lately. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=177895

sideboard idea : doomblades and discard, duress works nicely. for example taking removal away or counters. Also vines of wastwood is a beast as a card. C'mon counter target targeting spell. It just wins games

Great deck. Also Invigorate is better than giant growth in every way in infect, no?

0

Also why blight Mamba over Ichorclaw myr? i find that i never have the mana to regen anyways.

Predatory Strikes > Giant Growth ... worth the extra mana for trample +3/+3

0

Maybe take out the Mutagenic Growth or Untamed might and put some Virulent Swipes in. Of course I suppose infect will lower the creature anyway, but a 1 mana +2 deathtouch with rebound is amazing.

Royal Assassin but no tumble magnet? And Hand of the Praetors is a coll card but my experience playing has been poor, it's quickly countered or removed and by the time it make the board I've all ready played most of my cheap infect creatures. I say get rid of it and go with more crusader and G. Elf.

Looking good here. You just gotta love Hand of the Praetors, it's so good it's evil.
Have you considered using Triumph of the Hordes? It might be good in some situations, and Virulent Wound might go well with your removal in this deck. Also, Grim Affliction can be nice to have around in certain dire straits if Hand of the Praetors is alive.
I'd like to know about any thoughts you might have on my own infect deck, because I think it could always use more development. As it's also my best deck, there may be a few useful ideas in there.

There it is; my personal favorite deck. Input of any kind is welcomed.

Personally, I find Ichorclaw Myr valuable. It is usually let through for a couple quick poison counters while the bigger stuff is focused on. And having Trample is vital too...Garruk fits this well, as well as some older spells. Just my opinion. That said, this is obviously effective as is!

I agree with Garruk. Overrun with infect creatures is usually good game.

DUDE LIVEWIRE LASH!!!! Equipped creature gets +2/+0 and has "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell, this creature deals 2 damage to target creature or player." Your infect so target your own creature with a buff deal 2 poison counters to opponent then swing in with the creature and deal more.....

Yeah and opinions are like assholes...just because you have one doesn't mean anyone wants to hear from it. I could STOMP the balls off that weak deck in 3 turns!! If you want to hype your crap decks up then go to the forums and post a challenge, otherwise get off my nuts.
