Deck Description

This deck is the nasty brutal side of discard the side that doesn't care who it makes discard. It is for multiplayer mainly and has lost on only 2 seperate occasions one was to a lilianas caress deck(my bottomless pit killed me) and the other occasion was a 2 on one against my deck against two different burn decks. I appreciate any advice to make it faster or better in general but don't mention lilianas caress or megrim unless you have a good defense for them because in my experience they simply aren't very good choices for discard.

How to Play

Its pretty basic empty everyones hand(anywhere from 2nd to 4th turn)
Pop out the nihil stone early let it wack everyones life down while bottomless pit keeps your hand empty for ensnaring bridge to work and let your guilt feeder slip through the bridge to finish your opponents off if they choose to hold cards until bottomless pit forces it discarded to save them the five damage from nihil stone.

Thank you for you comments on my deck and I figured I'd come visit your deck.

The success rate you mentioned speaks for itself! As I was looking at the cards I found myself feeling greedy because I'd hate to make myself discard like so many of these cards do. I mean greedy because I want them to have no hand while I have one LOL.

However, with Ensnaring Bridge I can see the benefits here. On my page you mentioned that all black decks should have Dark Ritual. I love that card! However, most of your deck runs on 3 mana. Seems to me that you could easily replace Dark Ritual with some more control or something and not really miss them. Like perhaps add a couple "Go for the Throat" and a couple "Ultimate Price." You would definitely know better than me since you play the deck.

Thanks very much for the feedback. The reason I run the rituals is imagine playing multiplayer with the same people playing the same deck, this deck is brutally mean so they go for me at the start turn 1 3 mana allows me to shoot a delerium skeins or ensnaring bridge from the start a turn 1 chain of smog takes 2 cards from an opponent then hit them with blackmail chances are I took out atleast one of their bombs

Here are some very good discard cards for multiplayer decks for consideration as requested... I'll also build my own version of this deck (deck building is my favorite) and post the link

Cards are in order my mana cost

-Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace
-Chains of Mephistopheles
-"Cloak of Confusion" would be great with your GuiltFeeder
-"Pulling Teeth" Could be fun and lets you Scry in a sense
-Rotting Rats
-SICKENING DREAMS!! SICKENING DREAMS!! Especially with Ensnaring Bridge!
-Pox
-Small Pox
-Strong Arm Tactics
-Death Cloud (Very good board wipe/life loss as well)
-Liliana of the Veil
-"Necrogen Mists" is good cheaper alternative to bottomless pit
-Noxious Vapors
-Stronghold Rats

Honestly none of those cards help my deck in Amy way ill explain top to bottom
1. Takes red mana I'm mono black a over that its 3 mana for one discard
2. You didn't read this card correctly it doesn't work during drawstep I can't use it in any way.
3. If you are pllayg discard and by turn 6 they still have cards in hand your doing it wrong
4 useless way better cards to take its place
5. I'm not creature based the rat is useless for my deck
6. By the second or third turn I'm out of cards I don't need it
7.good suggestion
8good suggestion
9dont have tine to look that one up
10 I don't need board wipe because they don't get anything on the board if my deck works right
11lililiana is useless for this deck same reason as caress and megrim r useles
I don't know what kind of metagame your up against but I play multiplayer versus very fast decks where everyone targets my deck and some of the cards you listed I can't even use

#2 I read the card fine. It's not meant to force discard it eliminates anyone from using spells/abilities to draw extra cards.
#5 Creature base is irrelevant. This creature allows you for force each opponent to discard 1 card without having to pay mana for each turn after the first. Nuff said.
#9 "Each player discards a card. If it is not a creature card that player takes 4 damage."
#10 Board wipe always helps in multiplayer, if their decks work right they'll at least have out few things by turn 3

The cards I listed for you weren't necessarily meant for this EXACT deck. You asked for suggestions and I gave you a list of good multiplayer discard options. I don't know what YOUR metagame is which is why I threw a bunch of cards to look into. Ease up, at least I took out the time to list off a few things don't be an ass about what I put.

Oh I understand why you listed them now then and my discard seems pretty solid I'm just having trouble with direct damage it hits and the damage sticks before I can knock out the last player.any thoughts for burn or is it just a bad marchioness thanks

lillianas specter?

Well the specter costs 3 mana for 1 discard and then she is useless because of my ensnaring bridge

I know that Syphon Mind has the multiplayer aspect to it, but other than that I don't really like it just because it doesn't work with Ensnaring Bridge. Since it's multiplayer I assume it's casual so maybe Memory Jar if you can. Other than that I like it. The Rack would be nice. So would Bloodchief Ascension

This deck works great i drew some sample hands and thought it played really well mine focuses more on one on one but this one works for both one on one and multiplayer which i like because you can play it in more games but like my this deck would have trouble against my deck because if i pull the right hand i can get a 2/2 out first turn and start making you discard and your ensaring bridges wouldn't work right away but that nihil stone would destroy me i would have to hope to get a vebuild with essence harvest or drain lifes to keep my life up long enough to get yours down it would be an intense match

0

Wish they had playtesting like that haha and yes I try to focus on speed because if you play this deck in multiplayer everyone guns for you on the first turn so I had to make it so I could take multiple people at once

This is one of the best discard/control decks I´ve seen in some time - You did an awesome job here, sir !

'Ensnaring Bridge' is one of my favorite card in M:tG, althought I prefer the Stronghold art, but it´s still f**k&%g godlike.

'Funeral Charm' will help you a long way - Instant discard is just pure evil ]:-D

0

I keep telling the dork to run Funeral Charm. He will not because his deck is built for multiplayer. I keep telling him that Funeral Charm is an instant and he can play it at the end of his turn, causing 5 points of damage to his opponent via Nihil Stone.

Blackfire Phoenix. I noticed you have a lot of decks and reputation. Can you look at my decks and help?
I have to play this black control discard in person once a month...and it beats me 4 out out 5 games. Was wondering if you could help me with my Tendril deck or my Goblin deck.

After facing many discard decks, one thing that truly kill is: Shrieking Affliction or The Rack, add that to your Quest for the Nihil Stone and all you have to is sit back behind your Bridges and watch your opponents slowly (moderately fast) dies! And in multiplayer it becomes even more fun!

0

I'm kind of in a conflict with those 2 cards. I don't find them as effective as the quest but if I were to add them I don't know what to take out.

unnerve is really something to remove, the casting cost is way too high. I hope you know Hymn to Tourach or Mind Twist, 2 of the best discard cards (with thoughtseize). Guiltfeeder is probably the thing i would remove, as one of the only creature you have, it will always be targeted by everything your opponents have and its casting cost is too slow, also, if your opponent find a way to put a creature in play, you are screwed with it. So my suggestions:

remove:
4x Guiltfeeder
4x Unnerve

Add:
3 or 4 Shrieking Affliction
3 or 4 The rack

Also, try to find some room for 4x Hymn to Tourach, you can replace any of your discard cards with those.
Mind Twist is one option to look at

0

I bought 4 Mind Twist, expensive, and played against Magiccontroller's discard deck. What i found out is that Mind Twist is way too expensive and slow. By the time you have enough mana to use Mind Twist properly, the opponent is already out of cards. It was a waste of 20 bucks.

I do agree about Unnerve. It is the weakest card in the deck. I would put it in my sideboard for multiplayer games, and put in Hymn to Tourach.

And, you are right in that he might should consider creature removal spells.

Besides that, the deck is killer.

I disagree about cards like The Rack or Shrieking Affliction. Those cards are much slower than pure discards and Nihil Stone. And also disagree about Guiltfeeder...only because it is a second win condition in the deck. It makes the deck very consistent.

I run a deck with The Rack and Shrieking Affliction. When you have more than one out, it's extremely fast. I also use Mutilate to clear the board and Vampire Nighthawks to stall and do some damage. I have found that if you can double up on The Rack and/or Shrieking Affliction that it is very very successful.

However, there are many ways to design a discard deck. I feel like there are a good few variations out there that either work well with The Rack or do not. So don't force that card in if it doesn't work for your brew. Later!

0

Yep, good point. There are decent decks that work with Caress/Megrim/Rack/Affliction. But i don't think this deck works well.

http://www.mtgvault.com/jessie/decks/help-discardbounce-2/

An old deck I built that was designed around cards like Caress. Regardless, his deck kills my discard deck. That has made me against Caress/Rack/Affliction.

So this is why removal is so important!

0
Posted 20 July 2014 at 23:02

Indeed. This is why i preach to people, to i am red in the face, about all of their standard decks not having A SINGLE artifact/enchantment removal in their deck.

Going to start referring people to this deck every time i suggest that add at least 1 naturalize/disenchant/etc etc in their decks...and they tell me i don't know what i am talking about.

This deck is brutal if you don't bring removal.
Even with blue bounce decks I have had my butt, personally, handed to me by this deck.

0

I will refer people to this deck as well. I get a lot of heat when I run 4 Oblivion Rings and 4 Disenchants. A look at this beastly deck may show them why I run those 8 removal cards in virtually every white deck I make.

The worst part of this deck is how long it makes games. If you went up against a damage prevention deck, the game might last over 20 turns!

0

Since you are running ensnaring bridge, Bottled Cloister would be a good add. It exiles your hand during your opponent's turn and returns your hand during your upkeep. This allows you to attack, if you wanted, and prevent your opponent from attacking since you will have no cards in hand. I also suggest Hymn to Tourach. The best discard card for 2 mana, hands down.

1
Posted 21 July 2014 at 14:35

Hmmm ... it would also allow you to cast Delirium Skeins or Chain of Fog and lose no cards! That's an awesome add in my book!

0

Wait ... nevermind. Those are sorceries, so that wouldn't work.

On the bright side, you yourself would be almost immune to discard!

0
Posted 21 July 2014 at 19:32

Yeah, there's not really any good instant speed discard that effects everyone. But, with the Cloister and Bridge, it means your opponents cannot attack you ever. Not a bad deal.
