Deck discussion for Mardu Warriors

Looks really lethal! It has hand disruption, killing spells, a couple of combat tricks, and of course: some sweet-ass warriors.
Has my like!

Looks really balanced. Check out my Standard Assassins Deck. Get everything to have deathtouch and finish of with flying creatures. It can neutralize +1/+0 and +0/+1.

Seems pretty solid. I think you might want to add dual lands such as Battlefield Forge and Caves of Koilos to help with mana fixing. Other than that, a pretty good deck!

Nice standard deck. The mana curve is a little high. I might take out chief of the scale (edge is much better) and replace them with some fetch lands so you can have access to all of your colors. Since you have so many creatures, you might want to put in Athreos, God of Passage. But yeah. Standard Warriors is really solid.

Thanks, any suggestions on what fetch lands I should add in and how many of each?

Bloodstained mire would be best for your red and black, and for a general purpose fetch use evolving wilds. For wilds I would run a full set and mire I would run three. Popping a fetch is incredibly useful since it lowers your chance of late game top decking a land

I agree with drak, as well as temurman above. Using pain lands will also give you access to your colors. Right now. bloodstained mires are the only fetchlands (at least in standard), so I would definitely put in 4 (and as temurman said above, the pain lands). I would up the total land count to 24. Don't worry about getting mana flooded, as you have warriors that utilize extra mana - raid, dash, and alesha and hordechief).

You have to be careful with the pain lands though. They are great, but you only should add the ones that help the most, which is about to be sulfurous springs if I remember right. Otherwise I would suggest a full set of battlefield forge and rest be basic so you can fetch them with mire and wilds. And while 24 is the usual go to number of land, I would actually suggest 22. You're going to need too thin out land add much as possible so you don't want too many in there ruining your draw late game, should it go that long

Athreos isn't as good as he looks, trust me, I played him for a while and was never excited to draw him. 23 land is usually bet in mardu, and you might want to consider cutting things that aren't creatures or have immediate impact, cuts like raider's spoils, and personally I prefer thoughtseize over diplomacy of the wastes

Haha yeah I understand the thoughtseize over diplomay. I'm playing with what I currently have atm ;) Plus thoughtseizes are pretty pricey! I would think raider's spoil would be a staple for this deck though as card draw for a fast paced aggro deck seems kinda needed or am I wrong on this one? lol Thanks for the input!

I don't think you need it, you aren't trying to prolong the game so don't need extra card draw, unless you really reall want sign in blood, but only because that can turn into shock

deck looks pretty awesome, and I initially didn't like the whole warrior theme! best one ive seen. you have crackling doom and mardu charm, that's a pretty great spell list by itself. I think I'd Run 3-4 rabblemasters, they are just that powerful still. sideboard blood-chin fanatic for decks with a lot of removal? that way you can just sac the creature in response.

Great call on the Blood-Chin Fanatic usage here. Anyone taking out your key warrior creatures can be punished with this tactic.

Hero's blade is not a modern staple, the only few legendary creatures in modern infinite combo when they come down and there is only 1 decent equipment in modern (except the fringe swords) is cranial plating

i said the deck a mordern staple i wus saying put hero's blade in it

0

you should've clarified that. it looks you were saying that hero's blade was a staple

0

wouldn't have said either, Mardu is 100% not a modern staple, its a fringe aristocrats deck. Hero's blade doesn't fit considering the lack of legendary creatures and it doesn't really have an impact

I like Zurgo Helmsmasher but I agree with tleung84633, don't like chief of the scale as much as edge, I use Battlebrawler and Valorous Stance as 2 drops in my own warrior.
Cool warrior deck though.

Yes, battlebrawler is great because of the +1/+0 buff, which only makes the first strike better than it already is.

Good job with the deck. Few concerns the best unused card in standard right now is crackling doom i meam it kills hexproof such as fleecemane lion, dragonlord ojutai, and silumgar. And you can redirect the damage and 2 for 1 planeswalkers while loyalty counters are low. I'd take out a mardu charm for crackling doom it just has more value here.

0

For starters, mardu charm is amazing in a pinch. Second, he already has crackling doom in here. It's balanced just fine at 3 each.

Actually I've played Mardu since Khans, and Doom is the best sleeper in standard, its waking up right now but it needs to be a play set

i think mardu will fare better after zendikar 2.0 comes out, especially if we see lots of sexy vampires :3

0

I would cut 2 mardu charms, 1 for a murderous cut because unconditional 1 mana removal is awesome and possibly an ultimate price?

I'll certainly give this a try! Thanks everyone for the suggestions! So far with this set up I've had very good success!

Nice deck man. If you weren't shooting for standard, I would suggest putting in a land like Cavern of Souls, but I prefer Modern or Vintage so I'm not entirely sure which lands are standard right now. +1 Like.

If you have the time, check out my first deck on this site. :)
