Deck Description

An idea for a black red infect:

T1 - Swamp
T2 - Mountain, Plague Stinger
T3 - Assualt Strobe + Vampire's Bite on Plague Stinger = 8 Infect
T4 - Plague stinger attacks + Ichor Rats
OR
Plague Stinger and any of the buffs

10 Infect, turn 4 that is the ideal Wincon, If it goes longer Hand of the Praetors or Skithiryx and Mimic Vats can lead to constant hard hitting infects.

Another option is to simply Doomblade some large creatures (Titans, Kozilek, etc) and start throwing them back at the enemy and use Lightning Bolt to finish up their health.

Livewire Lash can also be used as an alternate late game wincon, by using my instants on my own equipped creature and smack for 2 more poison.

Still working on the sideboard, all I can really think of for sure is Shatter for artifact control, I need some sort of token clearer, I have ben debating Marsh Casualties, or Pyroclasm but not sure which would be the most effective as pyro kills my own creatures BUT hits for 2.

Comments/suggestions encouraged!

Finish up with some ichor rats or a few more hits from plague stinger can lead to a turn 4 win.

***Changes made as per comments, drawing sample hands seems to be more effective now that it is geared more to an early game.***

I definatly see the removal of the mimic vats and livewire lash, as they seem more geared to late game where infect tends to fail, but. I feel like the Lightning Bolts and Doom blades would be essential to drop their early blockers to get those poison counters early.

I was thinking about maybe dropping in some Smoldering Spires, but being that they come in tapped I feel that it just hinders you with a smaller mana pool when you are going to need it early on. Cant drop a turn 2 Plague stinger when you have a swamp and a teetering peaks.

If you are looking for sideboard to clear tokens go with Ratchet Bomb. I like Mimic Vat but not so much in this deck. I have Unholy Strength in my version which I like to beef up my Plaugue Stingers. I like it though especially with Assault Strobe.

I actually woke up this morning and was thinking "Hey, I forgot about Ratchet Bomb" Sad that I wake up thinking about that huh? hehe

Well my initial thought was to use mimic vat to make up for my lack of creatures to keep things like the plague stingers flying or perhaps grab one of the opponents creatures witha doom blade, but I do see how it is late game and turn 3 or 4 I wont want to spend the mana on a mimic vat.

I think what I might do, as a combination of the two comments:
-1 Livewire Lash
-3 Mimic Vat
-1 Hand of Praetors
-1 Skithiryx
+4 Ichorclaw Myr
+2 Unholy Strength

That removes some of the late game and adds in some early game plays, I definatly see the merit in Unholy strength, it seems like a very good buff to include. I just cant really see what I want to drop to add in 2 more. I feel like without the skithiryx and hand of the praetors there would be no late game and I could easily be toppled by a few well placed counters, the same goes for livewire lash.

hmmm.... perhaps remove 2 lightning bolts...

Made some of the changes, been mock playing the sample hands in my head and more often then not they seem to be turning out pretty good, with some solid hard hitting infect shots early on, and enough kill cards to maintain an open attack.

I'd say that looks fine but I have thought build compleatly new type infect using Bladed Pinions = flying + first strike = criple them first

well the problem is, added bladed pinions adds turns before you can really lay a smack down.

They way I see it is Infect needs to win in the first 5-6 turns otherwise its pretty much a downhill ride from there.

Well im about to play this tonight at Wednesday Magic, I did a bit of testing and it consitently drops 10 poison by turn 5-6 even against creature heavy decks.

Control seems to be the bane of this deck though, well see how it goes (crosses fingers)

Just took it to Wednesday magic, did fairly well, won 3/4 matches (it was a small night). I generally won in 3 however, as without being able to drop 6-8 poison counters by turn 4 I generally found myself fighting an uphill battle.

Skithryix is worthless, he is definatly out. I might remove Necropede in favor of Contagious Nim, because I often found myself in a situation where a creature with haste would win the game.

Contagious Nim doesn't have Haste, though...
