Deck Description

Just a simple mono red burn deck. This deck tends to win around turn 5, assuming you're going all out and not burning your opponent's threats.

How to Play

You pretty much just burn your opponent until he dies. You can also play it in a control style, burning your opponent's threats and chump blocking with Pyromancer tokens, occasionally burning/attacking him until he dies. This deck includes 12 arcane spells, so you can also splice Desperate Ritual and Glacial Ray pretty easily. You can also Reverberate a burn spell, an opponent's spell (such as a counterspell), or Desperate Ritual.

In the sideboard is Tormod's Crypt for graveyard hate, Hell's thunder for more creature power against Leyline of Sanctity or decks with little removal (and also to replace Smash to Smithereens if they don't have artifacts), Smash to Smithereens for artifacts, Volcanic Fallout for any deck that includes small creatures (including RDW), and Mindbreak Trap to stop Storm.

Any suggestions?

Deck discussion for Red Burn Modern

This deck seems to run very fast and reuse splice for midrange effect as well.
I'm not too sold on Young Pyromancer... He'll give you maybe 3-4 1/1s that will die to any blocker (if pyro even lives).

Good deck though! If you're not on a budget you may want to playtest Vexing Devil (browbeat jr.) and/or Goblin Guide (tempo), and of course Lightning Bolt.
Good sideboard cards may include skullcrack and pyroclasm :)

In playtesting, I'm not incredibly impressed with Pyromancer either, but it does provide chump blockers so you can focus your burn on your opponent. Also, in some situations where you control multiple copies of Pyromancer and have some Rituals in hand, it can be ridiculous. I'll probably end up replacing it though.

I love Vexing Devil, and plan to eventually add 4, but I'm not going to buy them; I'll trade my way to them. By the time I get Goblin Guides, I'll probably just build a creature-based RDW. Lightning Bolt is already in my deck of course.

I don't think damage prevention/lifegain is much of a problem in Modern, but if it was, I'd use Flames of the Blood Hand. I prefer Volcanic Fallout over Pyroclasm.

Thanks for your suggestions.
