Deck discussion for My First Deck

Okay, let me explain some things (help, not abussive): You have a 60 card deck, you want/need to draw, say, Sadistic Glee, for whatever reason. You only have 1, so that's a 1-60 chance of getting, it (roughly). So, to build a good deck, you need a "theme", and a color to "help" that them. So, you chose Black. Next pick what card you really like, and build cards that have combos, or compliment that card. Next, remove all cards that don't help with the biiger picture, your deck. Next, having only

1 of's and 2 of's cards, means you'll have a tough time drawing them when you need them. I would recomend dropping cards you don't need/don't help, so you can have 3 of's and 4 of's cards. If you need idea's or more help, just look at other's decks. If you want to take a look at a black deck, for idea's, see my, Infestation of Havoc deck, just click on the "view decks' link, next to my name. Hope this helped :)

Randoryman already gave some useful hints about deck building. In this special case I would get rid of Rag Dealer. Unless your opponent pulls some graveyard tricks it's useless. Dripping Dead and Dross Crocdile are quite expensive to cast and will die when blocked by some cheap 1/1 creature. My first deck was mono black too and I built it around creatures with fear and spells that reduce opponent's life while adding to mine.

my suggestion would be to look at other players' decks and see what kind of combinations they come up with.... or, if you just want to win a lot, look into Slivers and Elves (I hate both, of course)

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll see what I can do about replacing some of the singles and working some combos. Probably be a while thoough. Haven't got the money to get specific new cards, just cheap batch lots :(

23 lands 60 cards is my golden rule if its worth putting 1 copy of a card in a deck its worth putting in 4 only time i play less is if i have so much in the deck i have not want but have to trim down what i am playing all the best,

fast red green is a cheap affordable option built round pure speed and low mana cost and nothing else most cards tend to be common or uncommon. check out my kiln fiend is as fast as road runner deck i could happily run it minus the dragonlords and dual lands to save money and it would still be effective.
so a fast red/green weenie deck might be an affordable simple option to boost your amount of decks !.

you have done well to includ e a fair amount of kill cards its what black does best i like lots of kill it gives you time to get your own combos or concepts going. and really helps in multi player.
