Deck Description

This deck has several strategies all tied together. It combines the protective abilities of the Battletide Alchemist and the destructive powers of the Shepherd of Rot. Whenever a Battletide Alchemist is in play it prevents X amount of damage from "a" source were X is the number of Clerics you control. With the deck full of Clerics, your Battletide Alchemist will practically protect you from anything. In the event he is destroyed, I put a couple of redundancies to get them back. A Celestial Gatekeeper brings two Clerics back from the graveyard into play when it goes to the graveyard. Then you have your tank in Vile Deacon who get +X/+X where X is the number of Clerics in play.

Shepherd of Rot deals 1 loss of life per Zombie in play to every player. The Rotlung Reanimator puts 2/2 Zomibe Creatures into play whenever a Cleric is put into your graveyard. This is a burn everyone effect where you are the last one standing hopefully.

I have Pestilence to clear creatures and wittle you opponents life down, with all the protections and resurrections going on this will hardly be a problem for you to use and hit every creature and player with controllable damage. I addied Lashknife Barrier to minus 1 damage to your creatures from a source, that source being Pestilence. Since Pestilence deals 1 damage at a time your Lashknife Barrier will absorb the damage and allow you to clear the board of creatures. In case you are losing Clerics, I put in Celestial Gatekeeper and Remembrance. Celestial Gatekeeper is a 2 for 1 exchange, it dies and you get 2 Clerics from your graveyard directly into play.

*UPDATE 08/21/2012* Completed sideboard. Grand Abolisher replaces Shepherd of Rot when going against counter decks, Gravepurge is there to replace Dimir Machinations to combat mill, and Ghoulcaller's Chant/Unburial Rites in case there is a need to bring back creatures from the graveyard. Finally, Brainspoil and Dimir Machinations are there to transmute much needed creatures.

Trust me this deck has been vetted. Rotloung Reanimator and Shepherd of Rot combine to make a fearsome combo. Consider this, every creature is a cleric, if two Reanimators are in play and one cleric goes to the graveyard, you get 2 2/2 zombies. Shepherd of Rot is a serious power player considering how many people play zombies. You only need to win with one life left, this deck provides thats.
