Deck Description

This is my first non-creature based deck...i...honestly have no idea how it will play this Friday at the local comic shop when i play with all my friends.

I have put more effort into making this deck then any other deck i have made, its my baby! >^3^<

PLEASE HELP MY BABY GROW!~~

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Main goal of this deck is too kill the opponent with burns and fliers(Talrand and Delver).

Flash-back allows me to literally !@#% a huge amount of tokens once Talrand is out on the field or to burn the opponent with Burning Vengeance OR heck just be there in case of emergency

Fog Bank and Augur and a few burns are used to buy me time (And Augur can nab me spells i need as well)

(((( CARDS I CURRENTLY HAVE ON MY *VIABLE* LIST ))))
4 Vapor Snag's (I have one...and it goes out of rotation in 3 months so i'm not trying that hard to find it)
2 to 3 Index's (it's...an interesting card that COULD be really useful...not sure if it's worth a slot)
Geistflame (A burn with flashback...sadly it only does 1 damage)
2 to 4 Snapcaster mage's (so uhh..maybe if suddenly have a ton of spare money lying around sometime XD)
2 to 3 Devils play (A GOOOOD burn that i need to go find >.> )

I also need to get more Sulfur falls of course

Deck discussion for Talrand's Fury!

Thunderous wrath is cool, but i like bonfire in it's place better. Fog bank should be dropped for 4 snapcasters....helps with your flashback!!! Rid yourself of mystic revival for another think twice. Thunderbolt is cool, but it isn't extremely versatile. So how about those for 2 brimstone volleys and 2 incenerate.

I love Bonfire...but sadly due to this decks draw power Thunderous Wrath is the more useful card (it would suck to draw bonfire with a spell and be unable to use it for it's Miracle cost)

Ah, Snapcasters...Maybe when i get payed in 2 weeks XD

mmk...I'll go and look for another Think Twice at the card store this week, Mystic Revival is a meh card

I think i prefer Thunderbolt for the cheaper mana cost and the ability to remove BIG fliers that can block my flying drake tokens and Delvers

Talrand is just so damn cool. I love it, man! Maybe throw a Mindclaw Shaman or two in the sideboard just for fun; pretty sure Talrand still triggers.

Have you thought about Runechanter's Pike? I don't have much experience with Burning Vengeance, but I think swapping them out for a couple Pikes is a viable option if you're not too attached to the Vengeance scheme.

I wouldn't this seems more of a burning set up than a creature set up

That is a good card...that doesn't fit into here because i exile spells when i flashback them :P

You should consider tossing in a couple Curse of Bloodletting. Double damange with fliers and burns is well worth the 5 mana (in my opinion). http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=227091

or perhaps a fire servant http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=234702

i really thought about Curse of Bloodletting...but due to it's higher mana cost and the fact that it is a Enchantment (Talrand and Delver don't do their thing with enchants) made me take it out of the deck

I might throw one in my side-board tho

Maybe you should have Devil's Play in there. Also, why not have Vapor Snags? You still have 3 months before it goes out of standard. Other wise, not a bad deck

Oooo Devil's play looks freaking cool...Will TOTALLY have to go hunting for it. Thanks for letting me know that card existed XD

Well...mostly because i don't have any Vapor Snags XD

Maybe you could replace Searing Spear with Incinerate? Incinerate doesn't allow regenerate if the creature dies. Also, maybe Red Sun's Zenith?

I would but i'm trying to make this deck legal for when the standard thing rotates

At the moment everything here will be legal come October

sideboard rewind counter big spells if your deck somehow runs slow and the mana youve spent on it is instantly refunded so you can continue to draw / burn

0

I do like Rewind...if only it wasn't so costly in mana >.<

0

well you do get the mana right back to do what ever you want with it, void stalker is interesting you can block with it then use its ability to bounce another creature and save void stalker all in 1 combat phase cheap mana cost

dual casting is a good enchant creature card for ya, fervor if you want drakes coming in on your turn and they get to swing right away,

question is this for pure casual play or legal fnm with friends cause if all cards are open for use then you can really beef this deck up if you want ( lightning bolt, brainstorm, izzet guildmage, and the likes)

you commented on my casual deck, here's my real fnm http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=357051
now that's a mf deck right there.
delver and no snap casters? really?

This is what i'm loving to see out of talrand, and some more sulfur falls couldn't hurt the mana base.

(parden my spelling) incinerate is awesone put in two for taking out two fog wall there isnt a need to be defenceive if you are being aggro and the incinerate also helps flip delvers fast

Only problem is Incinerate will no longer be legal in October...i'm trying to build this deck to be Legal then

But the deck might be even less viable then. buying cards that are viable now then selling closer to rotation is a better investment than gambling that a less useful card now will become viable in the future.

Not sure 7 cards with flashback is enough for burning Vengence. I would take it out and add in more desperate ravings and/or think twice.

And it's probably been said before, but Snapcaster Mage would be pretty good here in my opinion.

0

He actually has 10 flashback cards, plus 4 snap casters, making 14 times he can cast from gy.

I would add a few "Unsummon" to your deck as well. triggers talrand and delver, plus would allow for you to either temporarily negate a threat, or return a "Snapcaster Mage" to your hand, allowing you to recast and take advantage of his effect. and all for 1 mana spell

Thunderbolt sucks, conditional incinerate? No thank you.

Put in something else, anything else.

0

it's not as bad as you think...most of the creatures i have attack through flying so it can get rid of big flying things in their way.

AND i can use it as a burn spell to hurt my opponent

0

I know how bad it is I have tried to use it in several different decks, with how small most of the fliers you will play against are (Lingering Souls, Drake Tokens, Delver) You can afford to take incinerate instead, this gives you about a million more things you can kill with it, even decks full of fliers (Black Vampires) only have small creatures, try Incinerate over Thunder Bolt, you will like what happens.

If you won't do that then at least take out Searing Spear for Incinerate, they do the exact same thing but you can't regenerate from Incinerate.

Shock is still standard until October 2012 so that's a great card to fit into this deck without hurting the mana curve.
I personally love counterspells so I'd put in mana leaks but once again this is just personal preference.

I would also recommend 2 Increasing Vengeance. I have a Green Red with 4x Thunderous Wrath and I assure you, it is DEADLY.

Imagine Miracling a Thunderous Wrath with Increasing Vengeance in the graveyard for flashback (and this is easy with Faithless Looting) ...
15 Damage for 6 mana. hello and good bye, sir.

0

Or better yet, 5 mana for 15 damage if you flashback increasing vengeance with snapcaster mage.

just wanted to act that since shock is also in the Innistrad block, it wont rotate out this september.

Maybe some mana leaks, negate dissipate or whatever counterspells to protect your creatures, and maybe favorable winds? Its not played very much ( okay not at all ) but its nice with talrand. If you have the time can you check out my standard deck?

Also gut shot, which can be played free with snapcaster and in that way its better than geistflame since you can EOT something on the first turn of the game.
maybe...
-4 thunderbolt
-2 geistflame
+4 mana leaks
+2 gut shot

This is an awesome idea currently I'm working on/running a mono-blue Talrand Mill deck but I was thinking of trying a Red/Blue Talrand burn and if I do I am so using this as my template. Amazing deck sir I love it and I have no changes for it because it looks amazing.

If you get a chance would you mind looking at my Talrand Mill?

I'm digging the changes you made. A nice improvement. I'd like to see a bit more counter (+2) or at least 2 more cheap bounce cards (something that could deal with noncreatures). I'm just not sure what's legal bounce in standard.

unfortunately he is a Legendary and a 4 cost

Hey Guys, im just wondering what FNM is like? Cos i've never been but always wanted to see what its like lol

Here's a link to a deck with this question as my main part? if anyone could give me any info on FNM i'd be really grateful =]

Well it is fun and if you are good at making decks and knowing whats good and not it can be awesome. I would recommend a prerelease first because u keep every card you get and you don't have to choose as much. Prereleases are $30 and FNM are $15

there is also the smaller cards such as artful dodge, the 1 island, with flashback 1 island too make a creature unblockable, works brilliant with talrand as its 2 mana for two 2/2 drakes.

if anyone could give me any feedback on my R/W standard it would be much appreciated

well maybe u should add a third talrand for a better chance to bring him out.

the thing with artful dodge would be really nice, and with flyers and artful dodge you could add some of the mirrodin swords.

maybe u can help me with my mono blue talrand deck

I personally don't know what to think about Talrand's Invocation outside of drafting. A 4 drop for 3 2/2's certainly seems good, but there's the consideration of board wipes and -/- counters that could screw that. Does it work well for you?

I'm on the fence about using red in my talrand deck. It's a white/blue approach (only using white for o-rings and moorland haunt) but I'd appreciate any advice as well.
