The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

For Deck Challenge http://forums.mtgvault.com/showthread.php?t=1782 -- Build a viable deck around Quest for Ula's Temple.

It's big blue beasties. :D Yay! Grozoth helps search out more his ilk, bounce and Sea's Claim/Spreading Seas to slow down your opponent. the Hatchling gives you a little early protection and the scry/draw sprinkled around helps you get lots of trouble causing beasties! Definitely built just for fun.

Sideboard in more direct control OR more excel against blue control decks. All that bounce could be replaced with counterspells when facing burn/control, if you wanted, but even they have trouble if they're missing land. >:D

8/20/12 Notes: As has been pointed out, there's a few things lacking here. Not enough creatures, too many cards over all, etc. So, here's a few things I would probably change if I were to make this for real:

-2x Capsize, -1x Spreading Seas
-2x Mystic Specualtion, +2 Sensei's Divining Top

Possible additions or stuff to sub in:
Devastation Tide in the sideboard for emergencies.
Serpent of the Endless Sea
Lorthos, the Tidemaker (one-of, for silliness)
Deep-Sea Kraken (just in case something happens to the Quest?)

Deck discussion for Somewhere Beyond the Sea

Hey, thanks for the comments on my decks feel free to leave more, am i missing something with this or do you have no black mana ? (sorry if i am) if this is the case how do you cast wrexial the risen deep 9again sorry if im missing a vital ability or trickery that lets you play him) if black is a splash why not add something like a vampire hound or something that lets you discard a card then reanimate the creatures from your graveyard there are numerous cards that do both !, it will get your big blue beasts on the deck a lot quicker !, i like all the early control in here and the scry cards are all very nice particulay Cryptic Annelid. this looks fun like you say but dont stop there with some tweaking this could be from good to very good i reckon !

Wrexial would NEVER be hard-cast with this deck. In fact, most of the creatures shouldn't be. Quest for Ula's Temple is the engine that gets everything out.

That being said, if I were building this deck for real, I would likely cut down the number of creatures a bit and replace Capsize with a card that was a little more effective and efficient. It was thrown in for flavor, to be honest, and would be much better replaced by Jace, Cancel, or any number of inexpensive control.

id also try and get down to 60 cards i really believe carrying more effects your land draw throughout the deck.

If I were seriously considering building this, I would cut it down. :) Even though I do own and play a 70+ card monstrosity, that is the ONLY deck I have that's over 60 and isn't meant for serious play. I agree that 60 is the goal to hit.

Kinda worried with the number of non-creature spells. Maybe a couple sensei's divining top? I love that you're into Buyback btw, Liked this again!

Divining Top would probably be an excellent addition, considering how the Quest works. Have to make sure there's a creature near the top or, barring that, a spell to help me GET a creature.

Speaking of that, I don't think I properly explored all my creature options... I missed Serpents completely, after all. Hmm...

Thanks for the comment and for giving me ideas! :D And, yes, Buyback is one of the more crazy mechanics. XD
