Deck Description

Standard Format Soldiers deck.

The only thing that clearly has an advantage on me is direct damage spells as I cannot counter them. However if they use them on me instead of my creatures then I can quickly stack buffs on my soldiers and overrun the opponent.

Deck discussion for Soldiers - Standard Format

Wow, I just noticed your deck is similar to mine (in how they function), though, of course, yours is much more advanced (but I found some good cards from looking at yours that I need to put into my deck :D )

Glad it could help. However I'm not sure I would call it advanced. I haven't purchased anything specific for it yet this is just cards I had on hand through buying boosters. I plan on keeping in the angels and a couple fliers to protect against aerial decks but I need to replace the non-flying non-soldier cards with soldier types so that they can all benefit from the upgrades. I'd also like to replace the Holy Strength enchants with Honor of the Pure which is a global enchant for all my creatures instead of Holy Strength just being for a specific one. However those are about $10 a piece and I haven't yet played in a tournament yet to see if I'm going to stick with it.

Anyone have an answer or suggestion to my question about using a 1 color deck? I'm curious why nobody uses them much anymore but can't seem to find any real "killers" for it. All the cards like circle of protection are gone in Standard so is there something else that takes their place? In other words, what are people going to pull out of their sideboard for the 2nd and 3rd match that is going to kill a 1 color deck?

CAPTAIN OF THE WATCH, she would be a great addition to any soldier deck, i would take out the Walls, the platoon, and Seraph, they just don't quite fit.

i think it looks solid. maybe go slightly less with the join the ranks becuase they cost so much. and if elspeth is financially a possibility, i would try to get her in as well. o and emeria, the sky ruin is never a bad idea for mono white decks. i would also think about maybe putting in brave the elements mainboard over harms way so you can get a free attack in for a win or something or if somebody plays kill spells or whatnot. good deck though. sp00nObeans1's attempt at trolling you brought my attention to this deck (i dont know if i brought this to your attention or not. sorry if you didnt want to know). he picked the wrong one becuase this is pretty good. GOOD WORK! =)

Thanks for the comments. Yes I'd love to use an Elspeth or two but at the moment I don't have them available to me. I also really like Emeria but the only reason I didn't add it to this one is because ally decks are typically meant to be quick and if you draw an Emeria early game it could slow you down since it comes in tapped. I've debated about Join the Ranks but what makes it worth the 4 cost is the fact that it is Instant speed. You can play it during combat phase after defenders have been set to stack up the counters even more and either kill off the attacker that thought he had a free kill or blow away your opponents defense. Admins must have already took care of spoon if he had spammed my comments. hehe
