Deck discussion for Golgari Wave

While I believe the Golgari are a high impact guild your current setup is very broad and you should work on fine tuning it. Ideally there are 2 paths to go with Golgari, either you can get the full use out of The Lich Lord and all his friends by having a deck biased around milling yourself. Decks like these have a particularly slow start but using cards like mulch and Jarad's orders you can fill your grave fast to pump up your field to then Punish enemies fast. On the other hand theres the route getting full use of Corpsejack Menace and his doubling +1/+1 counters. Utilizing him alongside Scavenge, Predator Ooze, and Champion of Lambholt you can quickly gain advantage and devour your enemies life total.

Hope my input helps along your way of making a brilliant Golgari deck! If you have time and would be interested I'm something different check out my new deck, I'm looking for comments and feedback to fine-tune it a bit. Heres the link. :D --> http://www.mtgvault.com/vandheer/decks/progress-of-evolution/

I really would like to take use of the scavenge mechanic! But I do not want to use cards from the previous block. Would it be beneficial to have one more Corpsejack Menace and perhaps 4-6 cards that promote milling? Thanks for the advice! I'm looking over your deck atm :)

So only M13 and cards from Return to Ravnica that fit into the Golgari Guild? Also would you mind cards from Gatecrash in your deck? Never the less its good to hear you know exactly what your looking for. Lucky for you M13 has an epic win card when paired with Scavenge and Corpsejack Menace...Primordial Hydra. :3 Its a hydra that comes into play with X (X is determined by the amount of mana you played it for) +1/+1 counters and doubles its +1/+1 counters each turn it stays in play. While in play with Corpsejack Menace it would multiply its +1/+1 counters each turn! Along with this you can constantly use Scavenge to keep pumping the counters on your Primordial Hydras.

Now with the rest of the deck I'd advise you tailor its efficiency and look at the usefulness of each card along with the costs of Scavenge. For example, Slitherhead is highly efficient as a fast 1 mana drop as a 1/1 with a scavenge cost of 0 while Drudge Beetle is a fast 2 mana drop that is a 2/2 but its downfall its how its scavenge is costed at 6 mana for only 2 +1/+1 counters. Its slight reasons like these that will impact my following suggestions of cards to remove that I will list bellow. I will put the name of the card(s) I'd remove first (with the quantity if needed) followed by an arrow (->) and what id replace the removed card with with an explanation if needed.

Creatures:
Drudge Beetle x4 -> Deadly Recluse x4 (reach and deathtouch for 2 mana) or Experiment One x4 (works well with +1/+1 counters and Evolve)
Daggerdrome Imp x2 + Wild Beastmaster + Korozda Guildmage -> Primordial Hydra x4
Vampire Nighthawk x2 -> Dreg Mangler x2
Acidic Slime -> Deadbridge Goliath
Sluiceway Scorpion ->Deadbridge Goliath
Vampire Nighthawk x1 -> Corpsejack Menace
Desecration Demon -> Corpsejack Menace
Vampire Nighthawk x1 -> Necropolis Regent (an epic and fun card though high mana and requirement for black mana)

Other:
Ultimate Price x4 -> Grisly Salvage x4 (lets you search for what you need in your hand while filling grave with scavenge)
Rites of Reaping + Golgari Charm -> Jarad's Orders x2 (Get a Hydra or Corpsejack in hand and Jarad in grave to bring back)

With my proposed edits the deck would have access to plenty of low mana stallers that would bide time to lead into one of the Hydras and then start to pump it with scavenge. While less deathtouch, scavenge and no lifelink it gains consistency in play with higher amounts of key cards and use of Grisly Salvange + Jarad's orders to find what your looking for. The deck itself becomes very aggressive as you'll want to play and attack fast (hence the 4 Dreg Manglers). The deck could benefit from Rancor as a constant source of trample or perhaps some way to get Hexproof depending what decks you may be fighting. The deck could also benefit from Deathrite Shaman but being there aren't many self mil cards and how he may be expensive I excluded him from my suggestions.

Please keep in mind though my suggestions may make your deck more consistent and efficient this is YOUR deck and YOU can put it together however you please. ^^

Now that I think about it you can avoid having 3 Corpsejack and 3 Deadbridge by taking out one of each and putting in another 2 Jarad's Orders so that you can have 4 of them to use to search for stuff to add to your deck and your grave. ;3

Thanks again for the great advice! My deck will be far more competitive now ^^ I opted to chose the best choices regardless of cost, and will order them soon. I made the adjustments in my other deck on the site (For some reason it hasn't allowed changes this afternoon xD Keeps giving me errors). How long have you been playing Magic the Gathering? You seem very experienced!

No Problem Mikae. Glad to have helped on your deck. Thank you for checking out my deck as-well, I have made the changes and will try for a few more rounds of edits before its finalized. And the normal card import is bugged at the moment but the bulk card import does work just fine.

I've been playing magic off an on for about 7-9 years(ish... give or take) casually with a circle of friends. I can be a bit of a perfectionist though so I do tend to study the cards more then i should. ^^;

At any rate best of luck with your Golgari shenanigans! :D Make them cry for mercy. lol
