Deck discussion for What Do You Do With Witches?

Not feeling Earthquake in this deck...it wipes out most of your creatures...sure, it leaves the important ones...but there has to be something better!

I just added it in. I used this deck against my friend's elf deck, and I was having a hard time breaking through. I was thinking on Pyroclasm, but I thought Earthquake would be better since it will trigger Chandra's Spitfire's ability. Any suggestions, my good sir?

What about Volcanic Fallout? It hits your opponent while also being uncounterable, but it'd still wipe most of your creatures.

I have a deck similar to this. I went mono red so I could use Cinder Pyromancer and Flamekin Harbringer. Once I saw Gelectrode, I always wanted to swap it with Cinder Pyromancer.

Spitfire is A LOT better than Wee Dragonauts. In fact, I would replace Wee Dragonauts with Guttersnipe. If you think about it, they both do the same thing damage wise EXCEPT Guttersnipe also pumps up the Spitfire.

You may want to consider these cards:

Gelectrode pumps up that Spitfire a LOT, I'd put it in. It also can clear out little weenies that might get in your way.
Grapeshot pumps up Spitfire a LOT.
Browbeat: Draw 3 cards will happen more often if it pumps up Spitfire.
Curiosity: put it on Gelectrode or Guttersnipe to draw a card every time you cast a burn spell.
Flamekin Harbringer: to tutor a Spitfire

The only problem with the Chandra Spitfire/Gelectrode/Guttersnipe combo is they are all 3 drops. With that said, if you have 1 of each. A simple incinerate does this:
Gelectrode pings for 1
Spitfire: 4/3
Incinerate for 3
Spitfire: 7/3
Guttersnipe pings for 2 from cast
Spitefire: 10/3
Untap Gelectrode, pings for 1
Spitfire: 13/3

If your keeping count that's 20 damage.

Cast another bolt and it's an extra 15 damage, up to 35.

Cast a Grapeshot, and 35 turns into 56.
If you have that Electromancer out you've only spent 3 mana. Even if they cast something like Fog, you're still burning a handful of damage... You're also burning your hand. Take advantage of blue's drawing capability and pump up the spitfire all the while.

I like the way you think, man. You have been a really great help. I didn't even notice that Curiosity works with noncombat damage!! I'm going to make the changes, now. Thanks for the help!

Anytime.
I saw some guy make a deck with Gelectrode and Curiosity, and I thought man that'd be perfect in my deck. On another note, you could probably remove the Cyclops. Lots of players tend to block ground creatures fairly well. Gotta figure out what to do on turns 1 and 2. Mogg Fanatic seems cost effective. He'd kind of be like a bank for when you get the spitfire out and attacking all the while. Or he could be used to clear a creature out. You could go that kind of route or you could move towards red mana ramp to get the combo out quicker. Cards like Rite of Flame or Seething Song.

Got it! How about Sigil of Sleep + Curiosity + Gelectrode?!!

Or Mind over Matter + Curiosity + Gelectrode = Infinite (until you run out of your library) Damage.

That would be brilliant, but I think infinite combos take away the fun. Also, I want to keep the mana curve pretty low. Good idea though, man. That would really slay some people.

Beat my friend, and his brutal discard deck, with the above mentioned combo.
Would tap and one damage, draw a card, discard the card to untap the pinger. Repeat. Tap the pinger to do one damage, draw a card, discard the same card to untap the pinger. Do it 20 times for the win.

My only problem with using Delver is the fact that there were so many people building decks around him when Innistrad hit. It's a great card, but I like to be at least somewhat original. Thanks for the input though, man.

That card is pretty awesome. I originally had it in here, but somehow or another, she got squeezed out. Haha. I just don't know what to remove now. I guess I'll have to play test this more, and see what seems to have the least amount of use.
