Deck Description

After I came back to MTG during RTR block, my first standart deck was built around evolve mechanic and hydras. It's still my favorite deck, probably because all deckbuilding was done by myself- no netdecking. Loved it so much, that I'm still trying to break it into a strong modern deck. Not sure if it's going to get into tier1 (atleast by my local meta) soon, but atleast it's very fun to play. Been testing this build on cockatrice - so far I'm happy. I wouls say I win comfortably atleast 50 percent of the games. The rest are really close ones. There was only one game, where I had a complete mana screw, so I conceded.

In this build i'm using mana dorks to speed up Prophet of kruphix and kalonian Hydra. I can put them as soon as turn 3. While Elvish Mystic is obvious choice, 2 drop dorks were bigger problem. At first i thought about using Gyra sage. But it's too slow, plus there's no guarantee that it will evolve on the same or next turn. Then came Voyaging satyr's turn, after that I decided to run Sylvan caryatid because of theirs hexproof. I was not happy with them either. Just then I remembered Devoted druid - their awesomeness is that they can give you 2G mana on the same turn. Plus, they evolve Experiments just the same as Voyaging satyr or Caryatids.

At the moment I'm using Simic charm, but I bet there's a much better option somewhere. The same goes for Young wolf - he's there just to fill the spot.

How to Play

Best case:
Turn 1: Elvish Mystic;
Turn 2: Devoted druid + Hardened scales;
Turn 3: You already have 5 mana to drop Prophet of Kruphix (2 or 3 lands, Elvish mystic, and Devoted druid, which can be untapped by placing a -1/-1 counter). Drop Kruphix on the table; On your opponents turn, untap and drop Kalonian Hydra, which comes even bigger thanks to Hardened scales.
Turn 4: Fun begins. You can drop Avatar of the resolute which will come big with trample and reach. You can drop Zegana and draw X cards. And so on. Usually one attack ends the game.

The main point is to attack at least once with Hydra. It will double all the counters, plus probably trample some damage to your opponent. Ofcourse, if you have 5 mana on turn 3 you can just drop Hydra instead Kruphix, but it's always more fun to do it on your opponents turn :) Basically if you drop kruphix, and your opponent is not heavy on removal, you have a victory in your pocket.

Sideboard is an open question. Right now I'm thinking that I'll definitely include Negate, Rapid hybridization, Syncopate and Scavenging ooze. Just don't know how many copies.
Ideas and suggestions are wolcome, both for mainboard and sideboard :)
