Deck Description

[Standard as of 12/30/2012]

This is primarily an aggro deck, using your sacrifice abilities to pump up your creatures, and leveraging this with Blood Artist to do double duty. This deck is built to steal opponents creatures to use against them, then sacrifice them before they're returned. Tokens assist with both pumping your creatures, and for activating the Blood Artist effect.

How to Play

This deck has been very successful, and wins a number of different ways. The easiest is by getting Blood Artist out, followed by either Bloodflow or Bloodthrone vampires, then popping out a few tokens to be sacrificed. I generally declare attackers, including tokens, before sacrificing anything, and force the opponent to decide what to block before making decisions what to sacrifice, if anything.

The simplest move is with Blood Artist and Bloodthrone Vampires out, cast Thatchers Revolt, send the Bloodthrone with the three tokens, and ideally, sacrifice all three tokens. Your Artist deals three damage, and your Vampire is now swinging as a 7/7.

One of my favorite tricks is against Unburial Rites decks, using Traitorous Instincts and/or Mark of Mutiny. Wait until they unbury something beastly, then steal it and use it against them, hopefully with the option of sacrificing it before it returns to them. This is especially fun when it's something that has a nice death effect, such as Moldgraf Monstrosity or Worldspine Wurm. Also fun to use on creatures like Thragtusk or opponents' Blood Artists, which both appear in all sorts of decks.
