Deck Description

My giiiirl... talking 'bout my girl... my girl!
lololo who doesnt love that temptations song?... anyone?

anyway, my girl is definitely the sexy kaalia, that beautiful legendary cleric is the greatest commander/deck engine i've ever seen... and it combos with my favorite creature types, demons and dragons... and angels... god white is definitely not my favorite color, but i get some nice white removal and creatures.... yeah, this deck is pretty self explanatory, get dat woman out and get her out early. @#!*% the torpedoes and full speed ahead!

How to Play

This is apocalypse themed (i am a strict vorthos), so most of the spells have to do with wide-spread world ending destruction. also, i try to run a lot of clerics (who i feel are kaalia's entourage for armageddon) so i am very excited about the new orzhov cards that i want to add. they put a nice twist on kaalia, and are really good in combination with them.

An aside on Reconnaissance: this card is the shit in a kaalia deck. you can run her into combat and not worry about her getting smashed by a blocker, as you can pull her out before combat resolution! also, you can give your creatures a pseudo-vigilance, the wording allows you to deal damage with the creatures and then untap them after the damage resolution step, as they still count as attacking creatures! i love that card!

I also run a heavy enchantment subtheme that keeps pressure up even if they deal with kaalia. Guild Feud, warstorm surge, and debtor's knell all keep the board presence greatly in your favor and act as pseudo-kaalias late game. this works well in congruence with your many wrath spells to keep your advantage even more uneven.

Also, cards like Avacyn, Akroma, Iona, Skythyrix, and Griselbrand are all big splashy cards but really overpowered in congruence with Kaalia. Avoid if you want to keep your friends. also, take out the Land Destruction cards if you want to play a "fair" kaalia deck, the LD is for my cut-throat meta

Edit: they banned Grissy NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :(

Hey just looked over you're deck and I see what you mean about the 1-off spells especially, and the lands. Had heard of Devine reckoning but had forgotten bout that card... Nasty! Lots of food for thought. Great deck tho!

Ps not thinking of running avacyn? I shat bricks when I saw that angel, gotta get my hands on one of them!

i didnt think i could cut anything for her. If you notice, i don't run Akroma, Angel of Fury or Razia Boros archangel or Reya dawnbringer, all insane cards, either. Its about personal preference mate. I like running more demons than people would think practical. I could try taking out archon of justice for avacyn, but still - archon comboes with divine reckoning to exile your opponent's creature. but i guess lady gaga also combos well with that spell too. Maybe if i get my hands on her, i will play her, but for now, i'm cool with grissy and gisela :)

Hope my list helps mate.

My buddy Wumps has a Kaalia EDH and I always have a blast when I get to play against it. Kaalia is the pinnacle of "Battle Cruiser"-style EDH, and that's just so much fun, no matter what end of the barrel you're looking down.

I'll be sure to ask him about his next time I see him and at least one of us should have something to helpful to say =P

Thanks for commenting, I just bought a lot of the new Avacyn Restored cards to put in this deck, so I probably won't be spending much more money on it any time soon, but I'd love to hear your critiques anyway! You have quite the reputation here on this website, so I'd be very interesting on what you have to say.

The basic plan of this deck is to stick a Kaalia, add any of the many ways to protect her into the mix, and hold off all attacks until you can resolve an Iona or an armageddon type card. In that sense, it sort of has an apocalyptic theme, so stuff like Comet Storm and Life's Finale serve more of a flavor purpose than a utility one. Still, Kaalia is an incredibly powerful commander, and I find my build very synergistic and flavorful, and still fun even with a few "unfun" spike cards thrown in. I'm not the type of guy to armageddon a battlefield turn four or tutor up an Iona against a mono-colored deck, so I think they balance out, especially since I intentionally run a minimal amount of hate cards. Anyway, thanks again for commenting!

I saw you comment on somebody's Kaalia deck and thought I'd come check out yours. Needless to say, I'm ridiculously impressed.

Can you check mine out? I've got a first draft for a Kaalia EDH deck I'm making.

Also, why are you running an Oblivion Ring? I always find cards like it to be rather underwhelming in EDH.

thanks for commenting! i'm glad you find my list interesting, i find most kaalia decks tend to blend together with the same cards, so i tried to come up with some different options. Oblivion ring i find is a great catch all for problem permanents, so it's always useful whenever i draw it, especially if everyone has already wasted their enchant removal.

Your desolation angel is confusing me. Without the kicker, I see no reason to run it. Is it intended to be hard-cast only?
