Deck Description

This is the Goblin Tribal deck I started with the Lorwyn intro deck, having modified it over the years. It's not the superfast Aggro Deck Goblins are normally known for. I'd guess it plays more like midrange aggro (not too familiar with the denominations).
I'd like to make it Modern viable but hit some roadblocks. While I can part with Brightstone Ritual and Goblin War Strike without regret, Goblin Bombardment and especially Gempalm Incinerator are too difficult to dismiss for me. Would be great if some of you had suggestions how to replace them. Thanks in advance!

Sideboard are some cards I am thinking of adding. While Dragonskull would be faster in play, Terramorphic gets some lands out of the library. Could switch Empty the Warrens with Hordeling Outburst, since EtW hasn't proven THAT useful in play (same as Incite War). Another Obelisk of Urd seems wise because it's a frickin' beast in this deck. Almost everytime it hits the battlefield it's gonna get ugly for your opponent.

If you try it out, lemme know what you think.
Cheers.

* Making this modern:
-Goblin Bombardment: Easiest replacement would be Barrage of Expendables. Other possibilities include Arms Dealer, Tarpitcher and Voracious Dragon.
- Gempalm Incinerator and Goblin War Strike: Hm. Skirk, Firemarshal? Not really. Of course you could always drop a Coat of Arms and just overrun your opponent if you have so many gobbos out. And Voracious Dragon also fits the bill somehow, but you lose them in the process. Ah, there it is: "Massive Raid" and "Burn at the Stake" :)

* Maybe he is too slow for you but Squee, Goblin Nabob would fit in this since you have to many sacrifice outlets and cards that need many Goblins in play (plus wouldn't at least one be part of this dysfunctional family?). Same is true for Goblin Assault. You probably want the latter because it is less mana intensive. Be aware, however, that with Goblin Assault, ALL gobos have to attack each turn, not only the tokens you built with the assault!

* Mudbutton Torchrunner ... for even more diversity I would replace one of them with TukTuk, the Explorer.

* Lash Out ? Of all the direct damage available this one? I haven't even heard about it before ... the deck isn't expensive enough to ensure you win the clash and it also doesn't have means to stack the library.

* Festering Goblin is probably more useful than Prickly Boggart.

* Slavering Nulls are very efficient in a black/red gobo deck. I don't know which other member should be kicked out of the family but if I was Auntie Wort, I'd cut Goblin Strikers out of my will.

* Talking of Auntie Wort - Wort, the Raidmother didn't make it to the family union because there aren't enough instants and sorceries?

* I would run Infiltration Lens instead of Explorer's Scope but that's just me.

* Tuktuk Scrapper instead of Goblin Replica?

* Auntie's Hovel :)

You never replied to this, have you dropped this deck? I'd love to hear how this family is doing and how the last thanksgiving turned out to be!

Wow, what a coincidence. I just went on here to check this deck for Commander cards. I thought about expanding the family a bit and since I'm already using a lot of 1-ofs I'm not far off a working Wort, Boggart Auntie Commander deck.

I actually swapped a few cards in this. For example I took out Lash Out and replaced it with a Lightning Strike. I think the Lash Out was still in there because this was originally the precon Goblin deck from Lorwyn that I updated and reworked over the years as I liked but yeah, never really noticed that Clash doesn't make sense at all.
I replaced Hoarder's Greed with Sign in Blood for the same reason. Also, I took out the Signal Pest and added Shared Animosity for more impact.

I moved on to other decks from this. Still play the deck occasionally but chose to not make it Modern viable after all. Your suggestion are still very useful as I will use some of those cards for the huge, new (even more dysfunctional?) family in the Commander deck.
Thanks for checking back in after all this time! :)

I skimmed through the decks I liked, partly to see how they were doing and party in the search of worthwhile members for VaultHelp.

If you make the switch to EDH I'd love to help out :)

Hi again, Puschkin.
I actually made the family into a (EDH) clan. :)
So if you want to check it out, go ahead and follow thiiiis link:

I'd appreciate your input on the deck. It's my first self-made commander deck after all. I know I'm not playing some mana staples (like Sol Ring for example) but I'm kinda bothered by the formula of "needing" them in every deck. Also, I aimed to stay true to the mischievious Goblin spirit and put some cards for pure shenanigans in there. May be suboptimal overall but I like having the deck fit the theme as much as possible. :)

The sideboard consists of cards I'm more or less considering for further changes.

Have played the deck only once for now (versus Sigarda, Heron's Grace and Alesha) and won, pretty close shave, though (the four essential cards were Basilisk Collar, Goblin Chieftain, Krenko and Descent of the Dragons).

Cheers,
Morty
