Deck Description

I was thinking about how to employ Athreos, God of Passage best to make every one of my creatures that hit the field hurt my opponent twice. Went with WB Warrior Aggro and Athreos to make them evaluate very carefully whether they want to spend 3 life every time they block or destroy something. If not there surly will be a moment where Rally the Ancestors brings my fellas back, to chump-block or to sacrifice them for Blood-Chin Fanatic and force the opponent to make the same decision again and again.

Any advice and tipps are deeply appreciated.

Deck discussion for Warriors Not Dead

I'm torn on the Rally the Ancestors vs. Return to the Ranks debate. Return to the Ranks lets you keep your critters again and again (Return, Fanatic sac, Athreos, Graveyard, Return again, etc). Rally is a one time shot but can get ALL your critters. Return only does up to 2. Ten of your critters wouldn't work with the Return. I'd probably run one of each, because I am wishy washy like that.

One card to consider is the Dictate of Erebos and/or Palace Siege. Palace Siege brings them back to your hand one at a time, which is nice. The Dictate works for sacrificed creatures so with the Fanatic you send them to the grave, ping your opponent, trigger the Dictate, force them to decide on Athreos, bring them back with Palace Siege. The Bloodsoaked champion is even better in this model, i might consider 4 of them.

If you do go with the Dictate I'd add a Secure the Wastes. Doesn't impact with Athreos but it does work for the Dictate, is useful mid to late game, and gives your fanatic a lot of chumps to fling.

Your weaker cards are the Aven skirmisher (vs. Mardu Woe-Reaper it doesn't compare. the Woe-Reaper works for all subsequent warriors, too). I also think Coat with Venom could become a Rush to Battle because of that lifelink gain and the all-creatures benefit, but that's personal preference. Foul-Tongue'd shriek could be good to as a 1x.

Another fun card with these decks is the Altar of the Brood. I put 4 in my sideboard against control decks so all their removal is removed.

First of all, thanks for your insightful input. Very much appreciated!

Yeah, the decision between Rally and Return was not an easy one. I really like the instant speed of Rally but the exile is indeed a huge crutch. Return on the other hand is just not as awesome as Rally except of course for the fact that the creatures stay in the game. Decisions, decisions... One of each sounds like a (good) compromise/starting point. I'm gonna test each constellation in time, I guess.

The Palace Siege I don't really like for this deck. Seems too slow for my tastes. My aim was to not really need the creatures back in my hand but force this decision on my opponent. When I get them back, fine with me! If not, fine as well! Their life is getting lower and lower to be finished off soon after.
Dictate on the other hand is worth a consideration. Its cc are a bit high, though. I guess I would take out the Crux for that.

Aah, Secure the Waste, that one was a tough choice as well. In the end it had to go because I was aiming for more synergy with Athreos and Rally/Return. I considered taking out the Strike Leader, as well.

I agree on the Skirmisher. Just thought it'd be nice to have a flyer that also profits from Rager and Chief of the Edge. And who can chump-block some nasty dragons if need be. As for the surprise-deathtouch, I really really love surprise-deathtouch. There aren't a lot of ways to get major threats or huge blockers with hexproof or something out of the way. Surprise-deathtouch is that way. I mean, I need some useful removal, right? Rush of Battle is nice and all but, oh well, maybe I should just try it out. :)
At the beginning I ran Foul-Tongue Shriek four times but bit after bit it left the deck. For the effect I added the two Hordechiefs.

Altar of the Brood does indeed look like a nice card. What would you take out for it if it were side- or mainboard?

What do you think about the creature/spell-ratio? Should there be more aggression, less or is it fine? I am also never really sure how much lands I should run in a deck. Are there some good "rules" that help with that?

22-24 lands is standard. If you have more than one big guy you would go 24

Also, if you're up for playing a lesser used card, Champion of Stray Souls would be a wrecker in your deck if Athreos is out. He's a Warrior, too.

I do like the Champion of Stray Souls. I find its a bit too mana-expensive for this deck. Maybe if I take out one Sorin for it?

I am building a deck centered on the Champ. Will put here when done. Black cat and other enter/leave battlefield cards and graveyard filler will be featured.

Sure, go ahead and post it here when it's done. I love synergy like that. :)
